For the records most of the yanks on the current scene had Pavlik in front going into the 7th. Was I watching a different fight there? Seems there's too much hate for Taylor over there!

I had Taylor 58-55 in front. 4-2 in rounds with the 10-8.

i had it 3-3.

taylor ahead by 1.

that was the best u could give pavlik as well i thought.

1 and 4 were the 2 close ones and i had pavlik edging both.

Fair enough they have 1 and 2 points leads for Pavlik in the main on the current scene. I fail to see how that can be the case.

Eastman's Miranda's best win and even then the fight was close before the stopage.

He only has wins over journymen otherwise so I fail to see how he was a top 10.

Spinks would of clowned him too. Heck I think as long as Spinks wasn't overpowered, he'd outbox Kelly too.

Most of the Yank's seem to score pressure or the agressor more than the guy who actually lands the cleaner punches strangely. :-?

Wasn't Green only a prospect though? Eastman was at least a Euro champ. No world class wins there.

He was deducted 5 points constantly fouling Abraham and couldn't take advantage of the broken jaw.

I'd be very said If Calzaghe fought either Pavlik or Miranda. :(

I'd like Joe to fight Dawson after Kessler.

that's about right!

His egg's been cracked and now we maybe know why he was never matched with punchers. With pavlik knocking him out a 2nd fight would be a lot different. Taylor wouldn't be going in with snazzy and exciting combos and his confidence will be different.

This could be a David Reid case study, in fact.

Taylor is hardly comparable with Reid. Reid was thrown to the wolves too early, Taylor has beaten Hopkins and drawn with Wright. Remains to be seen how he fares from here, worse fighters than Taylor have come back from KO defeats.

Taylor isn't comparable to Reid in any way as the above poster has stated, Taylor looked much the better fighter IMO but he was caught and destroyed by Pavlik.

I think Taylor should go for an instant rematch.

Yet it is comparable. They don't have to be identical for the comparison to stick. Reid was moved fast on the basis of an Olympic medal and wrecked 1st time he faced a puncher, Tito Trinidad.

Taylor got his shot when he wanted it, thanks to talent and a medl, but Hopkins and Spinks were weird non fights thanks to negative opposition. We'll see if Reid fits if Taylor is ruined by his first real fight with a mule kick of a puncher.

I don't think it will be a stretch to say that like Tito, Pavlik is a great puncher (KOs Miranda in elim, KOs Taylor for the proper title) or will be regarded as one, one day that is.

Taylor might be better than D Reid was, but both had developments that were hindered (Reid pushed in, due to droppy eyelid and bid for fast success; Taylor matched wrong on the way up) and both got demolished.

Stop getting sore, you Taylor fans.

Of course it fits. The issue is the punch . And the issue is how Taylor will be affected by it career-wise. Hopkins, Wright, Ouma, Spinks never brought a punch (though Hops shook him late in fight 1). Lot of tetchy Taylor fans trying to look like smart arses all of a sudden (even though I told you all Pavlik was going to get him and why).

Pavlik was a different kind of test. He was Taylor's first raw confrontation-as-test and this is where it came to pieces. He compares to Trinidad-Reid (not an elite name but twice the size as Tito).

I believe Taylor won't be the same. This was the fight where he actually came out with a lot of spunk, rattled off combos and moved very nicely - he fought better than ever, and then he was flattened. He plainly doesn't have the energy levels to keep up the punch and move strategy which he'd have to use in a rematch.

Hopefully he hasn't just be splattered into being the next David Reid -guy who'd never been hit with a bomb (rather than mere "clean shot")who'd never be the same.

Reid fought Trinidad after 3 years as a pro and in his 15th fight. Taylor fought Pavlik after 6 years as a pro in his 29th fight having already fought Hopkins twice and Winky Wright. A piss poor comparison however you try and dress it up.

There are many many more fighters more comparable with Taylor who have been caught and stopped. And many fighters have come back and learned from stoppage defeats and I think Taylor can do that.

According to what I read on Ringtalk.com the rematch clause is for a fight at supermiddle. Interesting.

I was quite surprised by Pavliks lack of variety, as he is usually very good at mixing it up when I have seen him

Fair point but Reid did not dethrone anyone remotely like Hopkins and did not take on anyone as good as Wright. He fought Tito who is below those two names. Unlike Taylor he got a concerted beating.

Jermain has not produced 110% of his potential to be fair, it looks like he lacks a spark. He has talent, Steward really does seem to rate him, or did.

He has enough money to retire if he wants, he does not follow boxing slavishly so proably won't care about what is said about him when he retires. On a sporting level, though, he may just want to go out and get a win over Pavlik.
Taylor could be the slightly enhanced, Middleweight Audley, eh Tel?

Cheers for that :( I'm having some lean times but did enjoy the fight. I enjoyed Aud-Sprott also, result aside, and sometimes you might like a fighter and follow him but it would be churlish to disregard fights he has lost.

Come on Big Aud! :box:

Come Jaded Jermain! :box:

Come on Machismo Marco! :box:

Barrera should see me right next week. The last stand of a P4P long stander.
Audley = is a pudendum, whose career continues to thrive (they should get that to go in automatically, like they do with allegedly allegedly allegedly

Jermain = has cnuts for fans (present company excepted)

Barrera = is a legend

Glenn Mccrory was brilliantly dry when responding to Darke's surprise that Taylor didn't know what titles he still held:

"Yes I mean he only has to look at his belts really" :D

For me its great to have a champ who actually likes the sport. You get the impression Pavlik won't duck anyone either.

Feel a bit sorry for Taylor, he really answered the critics and fought a genuine, aggressive fight from the start. Can't quite believe Pavlik is champ and I'm sure Taylor can't either.

Yeah I felt Taylor was bossing the fight really and after what happened in the 2nd looked like he take Pavlik who was just coming forward in straight lines. But Pavlik showed how tough he is and boy did he take Taylor out!

I also think now that Pavlik was wearing Taylor down, he was ripping in quite a few body shots that looked hurtful.
