With Macklin now up at middle and both of these guys Brummies is it not a natural clash for the British title? Has the makings of a cracker I think.

Dont think it will happen that soon. Macklin fights in Dublin again in a few weeks time and Wayne will probably want an easier first defence and hes probably entitled to one.

Fantastic win for Elcock that has opened up the devision... Macklin, Locket, Williams (has he retired) - all good defenses for Wayne in the near (hopefully) future.

Battle of The Blues Fans...

It has all the makings of a great fight!

Now that it looks like Duddy is being lined up for Pavlik Macklin may want to switch attention to the British title and what a fight for the Brum this one would be!

Both guys know, like and respect each other but I also know they would both fancy their respective chances - I honestly couldn't call this one - would Macklin's strength and relentless body attack just swing it his way?

Dunno, but I would like to find out!

If i'm completely honest, I would prefer to see Wayne fight Darren McDermott in a Birmingham-Black Country showdown. However, with that said, a fight with Macklin at St Andrews would be absolutely massive for our city.

I, for the time being at least, couldn't pick a winner.

As Dan has alluded to, both get on well and respect each other but they want to fight to see who is Birmingham's best.

Wayne has said he isn't planning to hang around the British title scene too long; he wants to get a shot at the European champion, make some money and see where it goes from there.

However, a first defence of the British title is likely to happen early in the New Year in Birmingham.

Easy cash for Pavlik though. Set it in MSG and you can exploit the Irish fan base to make a tidy profit on the fight. Also an opponent who can make him look good as it will be a war as long as it lasts and will impress the PPV companies to establish Pavlik as a long term draw. It;s a good fight business wise.

I heard something about St Pat's wkend at MSG for Pavlik's first defence. It makes great sense financially as they could draw a huge crowd, although it could be a pretty short and brutal fight.

I dont like Duddy's chances. The last thing you want to be is 'a catcher' when you are facing Pavlik..

Absolutely, they'll coin it in but i can see Pavlik winning inside 3/4 rounds...

It's to much of a gimmick, like Manfredo v Calazaghe...

Duddy struggled with an ancient Campas so what chance has he got v Pavlik, and what has he done to get a shot at the undisputed title?

It's all money, money, money......look at Robert McCracken for example, took him years to get a shot.

do people not remember 10 months ago when Wayne smashed him in 8 rounds?
Mcdermot is the much better fight and with macklin adding a few more wins that one to follow.

Bendall took a beating that night - he showed a great chin and bravery to last as long as he did. Elcock's right hand was razor sharp.

Elcock v Macca would be a helluva fight. Only problem is where is a suitable venue to hold it? AVLC, Dudley Town Hall etc are just too small.

I think he's got a good chance against Sylvester, as long as it's not in Germany.

Macklin started off as a welter, and he will struggle with a full blown middle, there must be a reason he has jumped up from L/M, i have seen Maklin at a few shows and he doesn't look huge, fair play for him coming back after that ko from Moore though, it would have broken most fighters.

I would go for Elcock inside the distance.

I dunno, I would put Macklin down as a 'brawny' sort, no body builder style muscles but strong like an ox. I wouldnt think he would struggle fighting at 11st 6 - what you must remember was that he was a boy when he turned pro - he has filled out alot since.

Smigga, you sparred him plenty, would you say he has the strength to fight successfully at middle?
