yeah i'd rather see that. I was glad in a way cos i knew Martinez would KO Roberts anyway and just embarass our division further.

Are these guys doing it - so I bloody have to do alot of changes for the next rankings!

What happend exactly, I could view the fight - but I take it Roberts lost his comeback bout.

Roberts probably won each of the first 5 rounds, round 4 was close though. He didn't look great, negative always looking to hold.

Then Rhodes came out looking for the KO in the 6th, caught Roberts with a shot on the temple, and then another one by the ear for good measure. Roberts looked very hurt, he then went on 1 knee and tried to get up at 9, the ref didn't think he got up in time and waved it off. IMO the ref should of given Roberts the benifit of the doubt cos he was clearly winning, and probably was able to continue, but Roberts can't have too many complaints he should of stood up at the count of 8 like you are supposed to.

Thanks, bit of a shame - hope Roberts doesn't pack it in - he seems a tad unlucky to me on this occasion. Although, of course I'd need to see it to judge properly.

yeah, to be fair he looked a shadow of the fighter who was at the top of the light middleweight division a couple of years back. He's a confidence fighter, Adam Smith touched on it in commentary when he said about Roberts never seeming the same since he was floored by Ron Weaver.

My personal opinion is the ref was a little too quick to wave his arms. He was up at ten, but it was very close.

According to Sky the ref had Roberts winning every round, so taking that into account I can't quie understand why the ref was so quick to wave it off. Although the knockdown was heavy Roberts was aware enough to stop himself jumping straight up, and take as much time as possible. Too much time as it happens :)

As usual the bbboc stopped sky from interviewing the referee :/

There's not much doubt in my mind that Roberts was good to continue....but weren't you expecting him to get up at 8? He looked completely with it after getting on 1 knee, facing the Ref and looking up. Everything right. Getting as much time as possible, but when he didn't get up at 8, I thought he wasn't getting up at all!
And as everyone at ringside said, shooting up at 9 simply isn't good enough.

I thought Robbo was very unlucky, he was up before 10 and clearly had regained his composure.
compare it to Damon Hague last year and you gotta feel for Robbo.
But he took it like a man and was a very sporting loser

You have to show that you are in a position to carry on before the count of 10 and Roberts just about got to his feet. He may have been able to carry on but he misjudged the count. I was always taught, 'up at eight, wipe glove on shorts, hands straight up, say "I'm okay ref" and then see what happens. Steve just got up the wrong side of eight.
