He's got to be up there hasn't he, but given some of the fights we've got coming up, it's a bit premature. For example, if Kessler beats Joe (which I really hope doesn't happen!) I think he's in with a stronger shout - Calzaghe's better than Taylor and Andrade was at least on a par with Miranda.
And if Hatton achieves his 'Mission Impossible' then all bets are off!!

Already he's done something out of the ordinary has Pavlik. He's fought three times. He also has 3 spectacular KOs, won 2 title elims and 2 world titles, beating a tough fringe contender, a powerful if raw top contender and a champion who was undefeated.

Hatton will have fought three times. He was brilliant vs Castillo, poor v Urango (but got a good W on paper) and beating Mayweather - which isn't as long a shot as ppl think - would put him above Pavlik in fighter of the year debates.

Pavlik could make sure of it though by taking a tune up fight to close the year or an easy title defense.

Kessler's another candidate only with two fights. He beat a very tough mandatory in Andrade and if he beats Joe he's beaten a guy who's 40 odd fights, and 14 years, unbeaten. That would even things up.
