If Mundine eye hadnt have gotten infected he would have fought Epifanio Mendoza in his next fight... He is the guy facing Chad Dawson for his title now.
" Interestingly, Mendoza was preparing for a different title shot (against WBA Super Middleweight Champion Anthony Mundine) just weeks prior to receiving the call to fight Dawson.
To help prepare for the Mundine fight, Mendoza sparred against fellow countrymen Alejandro Berrio, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) 168-pound world titleholder.
“Mundine suffered an eye injury and that fight was scrapped,” Mendoza said. “Then, I got the call for this fight on Monday, Sept. 17, and I couldn’t turn it down. Sometimes in boxing, fights have a weird way of working themselves out. I’ll be ready and hungry to fight on Sept. 29.”
Damn we missed on a good Mundine fight
The bloke has had three fights at 175. He started at a lot lower (maybe 154) and has kept moving between divisions (which says something about is prospects as a boxer). But to answer your question of why he gets a shot; its because he has an alright record without posing any sort of threat the the champion and he was able to jump in on short notice...Bushboy wrote:do you guys find it weird he was going to challenge for the wba super middle title, however because of a change of plans he is challenging for the wbc light heavy title? its taking danny green 3 fights in between to credibility in a new division so how can this fella do it with none?

Yeah Mundines lips got him into some issues, But when u say laugher(?) fights i take u mean Green, Kessler, Echols, Ottke, Soliman etc etc.Good ridance to Mundine....the guy takes more laugher fights than anybody in recent memory.
Where does he find most of these bums.
Now compare them to Jamie Pittmans fight history.????(Infact to any other current Aus boxer)
Hes been good for entertainment value and it would be ashame if it ended like this.
Mundine Pros:
Boxing Profile is high when he fights.
Good example of the value of clean living.
Great work Ethic
Beat a few Yanks
Non fight fans get enthused
Mundine Cons:
American rap culture (hey i liked the single to the rocky theme....sorry)
Lack of respect for other athletes
Poor pay for supporting fighters ie 95 mundine 5 everyone else
Legitamacy for bullshit titles
Trying to sell fights to th public which should never have been made\
Crap undercards

yeh il agree with u on crap undercards..
a good pro boxer from wagga wagga, nsw wher i come from, Anthony McCracken had a fight on mundines last undercard against one of mundines goldenboy sparring partners, jamie withers.. Now no doubt at times during this fight withers was a bit to silky for anthony but the bout was full of holes.. The match had been brought forward a month from its proposed date, weeks after anthonys last bout hence he had barely trained and came in overweight. It also had 2 minute rounds and was a 4 rounder i think instead of a 6 or 8, i can only speculate this is because if he was given enough time McCrackens power would have come to the fore and they werent willing to risk it
