If I was doing a Solely Middleweight list then I would consider putting Duddy as the number one, due to his World profile and the decent names on his record, but Elcock is the British and Commonwealth champion and has beaten a lower World class fighter in Eastman, who is arguably better than any fighter Duddy has beaten, so I would probably put Elcock at number one.stujones wrote:Just wandering if you considered calling Duddy the #1 Middleweight in the UK following the Elcock vs Eastman result. Duddy does have some decent wins... albeit he made them too hard for him to be considered a geniune world threat, but still good wins and he is undefeated.
As for considering having Duddy as my top rated Middleweight in the P4P rankings: I really couldn't put Elcock below Duddy, after Elcock beat a top 10 fighter in Eastman, as Duddy is too low in the list.
Horse, as much as I admire your monthly lists, surely you have to drop Harrison now? I refrained from mentioning it for several months, mentioned it last month, and find it hard to avoid now. He hasn't fought for almost 2 years now, and is surely unlikely to fight again. You might as well include Hamed in your p4p list.
Having Scott Harrison in the list confuses a lot of people; but he hasn't retired so that is why I haven't taken him out.Albert wrote:Having Scott Harrison confuses me somewhat. Not having Thaxton in is also baffling. And in addition you have to argue that Bradley Pryce deserves to be somewhere in the 30.
Thaxton and Pryce fell out as they were at the bottom of the list; due to my decision to introduce Elcock and Simpson after their wins. Both Thaxton and Pryce fight this Month, if they both win they will probably be back in again next Month.

#1 IMO Elcock beating Eastman is not on a par with Lynes' recent bouts.Horse wrote:1. (1.) Ricky Hatton

#2 Wayne and Scott... this time, they havent even dropped the customary one place!
#3 Thaxton shouldnt have lost his place at all, he should be higher, IMO Danny Williams could have gone in his stead.

The Braithwaite win is just one win, Arthur's career has a lot more depth to it, and I wouldn't say the Braithwate win was that big of a deal.nickd wrote:Macca should be above Arthur. The Braithwaite win is far better than anyything Arthur has managed.
He'll be back.nickd wrote:Scott Harrison should be removed.

He may well be in a few years (I don't believe he will), but surely given that this is a current p4p list, there is no case for him to be included? This is especially so as you are including other fighters based on performances in the last 18 months. Naz keeps threatening a comeback, maybe he should be restored????
Don't get me wrong, it's a good list (I have my disagreements, but thats to be expected) and it promotes some interesting debate. Maybe, Harrison should be removed, but with an Emeritus status, allowing him to return higher than would normally be expected for a new entrant? I'm sure no-one would have too many qualms, in the event that he did actually make a comeback.

How can you think Alex Arthur's career has more depth to it than Macarinelli's?
And McCullough and Harrison have to go, the list is a joke with them on it.....
In fairness as well, Gavin Rees should be above people like Haye until Haye becomes a world champ. Most of this list is on potential or past fights.
For example, Nicky Cook is very high considering he got pasted recently.

Rees has been in with a World Level opponant, beaten them convincingly (yes he was tired, but M'Baye never looked like capitalising) and holds a credible world title. Froch, for all his potential, has done nothing at this level.Ash-Weston wrote:Why is Rees above Froch? Gavin Rees has only been 12 rounds with M'Baye and looked knackered after the ninth round but hung on. I reckon Froch will be more dominant at world level than Rees will ever be!!
It's like saying Khan should be no 1 because he has the potential to be the best boxer to come out of UK since sliced bread. Potential counts for nothing until it is realised.
Hamed has been out of the ring for over 5 years and 4 Months, I think it would be a lot sillier to have Hamed in a list than Harrison.states wrote:Horse, as much as I admire your monthly lists, surely you have to drop Harrison now? Maybe, but Eastman was in my top 10, and as Elcock beat him I couldn't put Elcock too much below that position. Lynes fights Branco in November, so it should be sorted out then.MIKEE wrote:#1 IMO Elcock beating Eastman is not on a par with Lynes' recent bouts.
Well, they are my brothers.MIKEE wrote:#2 Wayne and Scott... this time, they havent even dropped the customary one place!
I only dropped them because they were the bottom two. I didn't want to drop them, but I felt I had to include Elcock and Simpson after their wins.MIKEE wrote:#3 Thaxton shouldnt have lost his place at all, he should be higher, IMO Danny Williams could have gone in his stead.
