Can't say I'm surpised by this news tremendously and I do agree with the point of view of Warren (as suggested in the article). Where can McCoullough go, the gulf between the likes of Harrison and Brodie and Nicky Cook (ranked 4th) is huge. I'm not sure whether people want to see him mixing with Harrison and Brodie again, likewise I think Cook etc will be a huge step down.

Basically if he moves back down to Super Bantam, then there is now competition for him - he's in a quandry as far as his career goes and America is probably the best option.

Put I hope Please, he moves back down to Super Bantam.

Christ, please don't anyone let him fight Pacquaio, he would just be a human punchbag the entire fight, and with his ability to take a shot, it could even possibly go the distance.

I would like to see him retire too, or at least get back down in weight where he isn't in with the real killers.

Anyone else feel Ayala - McCullough must now happen? It's easy to make, a crossroads fight, and will most definitely be a contender for fight of next year. Let's get it on for next March.

This just gives Wayne more options. He would beat Brodie but Brodie is otherwise indisposed. And what else, a Harrison rematch?? Nah!

Down at Super Bantam he can win a title, most of the champs are crap...just that Warren isnt going to promote any fights in America, Wayne would end up fighting for the WBU belt..

Good move for both

Pocket, your loyalty to Wayne was admirable, but now it's getting to the blind stage that Evander Holyfield's got in his career and someone needs to show you the light.

Wayne's finished as a force in world-class company and won't be winning anything.

Thats a bit harsh bearing in mind the fight this is being based on was against a Welter!!

As I said before, we will see what he has in his comeback fight, I will be the first to say thats enough...

I agree Dirt.

No way would Wayne McCullough beat Michael Brodie. Brodie would out work him for every round, and take a lop sided decision. McCullough is a shadow of his old self, and although he's still a great volume puncher with a granite chin, he's only going to find success at lower levels when he can be on top of an opponent for 3 minutes of every round.
McCullough doesn't deserve a title shot of any sort at the moment, super bantam or feather. He needs to get in the mix, and beat some names, and that's why a move back to the states to base himself would be ideal. A match up with someone like Paulie Ayala or Bones Adams would be explosive, and would be right up Wayne's street. I wouldn't pick him to beat either but he'd give as good as he gets.

No way McCullough beats Brodie, at feather and probably not at super bantam either, not unless his form improves massively from what it was against Harrison, which won't happen, you can't roll back the years. His best days ended when they told him he couldn't box

Yeah, and he got beaten up by Daniel Zaragoza, beaten by Erik Morales, beaten by Hamed, beaten by Harrison...

What's he gonna do at his age. Improve like fine wine?

I'm not being harsh I'm just looking at the facts. He's a high-energy fighter who's had a lot of tough nights and the Harrison fight must have taken ssomething out of him and he won't be improving, just regressing and he IS FINISHED as a top-level fighter.

I'd like to see Wayne retire, he's had a lot of tough fights and has always relied on spped, high energy and his iron chin... now the speed and energy seems to have faded... leaving him with just his chin and heart.... this can be a dangerous combination for a faded fighter... Wayne took far too many punches against Harrison and I'd hate to see him become little more than a punch bag for the up and comers and carry on till his chin goes too. Please quit now Wayne.
