He'll beat Thaxton but not sure about Earl.
On the second point I actually think the other way around.

Khan's quick and looked very strong. Hard to tell of Lawton's ambition - I would normally argree, but perhaps Khan punched the ambition out of Lawton EARLY. He is an impressive prospect.

Warren said there is a possibility there might be another title on the line alongside the Commonwealth - does that mean Thaxton then? I didn't think you could win a intercontinental or world title a defend the Commonwealth championship.

What about former Alex Athur foe Jaun Carlos Melero...... EU Champion.

Earl and Thaxton are a good next two although I suspect he will have a fight in between who can be presented as part of a stedy progression. My reson for thinking this is that Khan seems to want to fight every month or two and it wouldn't be Prudent for Warren to put him in against those two in two months so I suspect a commonwealth defence. I expect thaxton to be in with Khan feburary march time which isn't too bad a progression.

By my reconing he'll have 18 fights under his belt by the time he starts trying to build an EBU shot (although he'd probably have to fight Juan Carlos Diaz Melero to get mandated. I have no idea if this is the case just my thoughts on the issues.

And though ITV have to dress it up as "Khan survived a heavy knockdown so proved he has the desire to go all the way etc", they are whistling past the grave yard a bit, because the glaring fact is that Khan was out on his feet against someone who doesn't hit very hard, compared to the type of fighters he's going to have to step up against soon.

Earl will be in with a good shout you'd think, for instance.

But Khan's own power, plus that chin, are going to make for some good viewing once Frank is forced to take the breaks off. Which I think Family Khan are going to force him to do pretty soon.
Yes, I think people are writing Earl off with a little too much haste, but then perhaps Frank knows something we don't? Maybe Earls balance has gone after that fight, or he's looked gunshy in sparring. Who knows, but Frank's no fool is he?

Earl can certainly bang enough to test Khan's chin, but will Earl be able to land enough against the tide of what's coming towards him?

Hello, Rob. Long time no speak.

Khan has a lot of talent and is athletic, but I have never sen hin throw a short punch.

I know he is log armed, but even Hearns as an amatuer would jab, step back, let the guy fall in, and counter with a short hook and corkscrew right hand.

Khan telegraphs his shots, and misses with loads. However his speed ensures that he lands a few at this level, alas with his chin open.

F Warren is right. He needs time. Khans people should listen to Warren

He did some nice work in close on the ropes to finish it. He has a very good uppercut in his repetoire, and his punch placement is good. I like the way he switches from head to body.

I've yet to see him face a fluid fighter though, or one with quick hands and a good jab.

Against someone with a good jab, Khan would have his work cut out, but I did notice a good degree of head movement slipping the jab against Lawton tonight, which seemed to discourage Scott.

The double jab would have been better, to keep khan moving and negative.

Khan had his hands up this time but he still has no head movement or much slipping or parrying.

Good performance by Khan, however I don't believe he's ready for Thaxton yet. A fight with Earl would be great though and one that I'd give Khan a good chance at winning.

Anyone notice Fightnews latest report, 'Khan easily beats Limond!'

Khan has learned to step in and out and to hold his guard up higher which are good improvements but what else have we learned about his progress tonight - Not a lot against a non puncher who has built up his record beating journeymen - OK it was a necessary fight after the tough one against Limond but he does need a bigger test next time - You could tell Frank was in no rush with him and 5/6 fights look about right before a title shot - If Thaxton is the mandatory why are we talking Earl for his next fight in Dec - That issue needs to cleared up - Either way Thaxton or Earl would be more than a test - Both are said to be in decline but I think thats nonsense - Its going to be a very rocky road if that pair are Khans next opponents.

Khan obviously has plenty of talent. Very quick hands, solid puncher and very strong at the weight. But he still needs time to develop.

It is all well and good him looking impressive against a domestic level fighter, but there are still fundamental flaws that I do not think he will get away with if he steps up into world class too soon.

As pointed out earlier he still leaves his chin out to dry when on the attack and as I have posted before his forward momentum carries him right into his opponent’s range. I can not understand why he doesn’t hold his feet better (within his own range) dominating his opponents at distance (working a few more angles) with his quick hands opening up counterpunching opportunities. He operates too much in straight lines for my liking trying to get the job done as quickly as possible. Right now it looks like he wants to crowd please too much. If that is the case he will have to come through some unnecessarily sticky moments in the future.

I think Earl would be a good next opponent for him. I hope he can get a 12 rounder behind him before he fights for world title. That would be the most valuable learning experience for him at this stage of his career.

He has the bit between the teeth so why not use that to your advantage and face someone decent and see how good you really are?
The difference between this and your game, assuming you are Bolton's footie player, is that if you step up to a level beyond that at which you are comfortable.... you lose. Boxers do the same and get hurt. Nothing is wrong with what Amir has done so far. But this game is not a sprint, and he still needs to ease his way up. Earl would be absolutely the right fight now ... maybe Thaxton. To catapult him into a different class, and I include Katsidis there at the moment, would be madness. The title fights will come. But Mr W is a master at timing fighters' progression and Amir's crew and his supporters would do well not to forget that.

Amir looks like he's always out to be to keep the Fans happy, throwing long-range punch's and 'diving' in for the kill, seems to be his game-plan, I think his jab needs to be used bit more....

also think he's open for a right-bomb...

ah he'll get better :box:

He was leaving his chin out to dry a lot less in this fight I thought, however you do have a point about him smovering his own work. Its odd though one would have thought as an ametre he would have learned well how to move in and out of range, indeed I may expect him to do it a little too much and be too tentative but he is quite the opposit.

Great word, not always correctly applied. Tiring and negative state of mind.

They are bound to play a vocal part in his fights.

pity terry for once gave us the completely wrong meaning though. i thought it meant an enjoyment of anothers misery but i checked the oxford dictionary and it says this; schadenfreude - from the German schaden meaning "harm" and freude meaning "joy" THE MALICIOUS ENJOYMENT OF ANOTHERS MISFORTUNES.
sorry guys :TU:

the only word that i can think of terry that means a tiring and negative state of mind is ENERVATING cant work out where the confusion with SCHADENFREUDE comes.

yeh Glen Leech used it in his column in boxing monthly this month! I wouldn't derive any from seeing Khan lose I think his family seem alright.
