Earl v Khan Dec 8th
Looks as if Graham Earl will be facing Amir Khan , good match-up this one.
Re: Earl v Khan Dec 8th
Its a bold move and a BIG step up if he fights Earl next, in what will be his 15th fight, respect to Khan and FW if the fight happens.Old bones Ian wrote:Looks as if Graham Earl will be facing Amir Khan , good match-up this one.
I was alot more impressed with Khan on Saturday, he was aggressive without being reckless which wasn't the case against Limond. It wasn't much of a contest though.
Khan Vs Earl followed by Thaxton would be awesome

Fair do's if this does happen... big fight for Khan, but big fight for Earl also. I don't think he is ready agewise, ambition wise etc to be the "opponent" just yet. For Earl its a "backward" step to the European/World honours he is still looking for - so props to him also for taking this fight.
Edit: Just noticed that Khan is now ranked HIGHER than Earl in the WBO rankings - so its not really the backward step I was harping on about

It will have to be one serious MUTHA of a show to outshine Hatton v PBF. I think in reality SN are trying to cut in on the cascade of boxing publicity that will surround that date.Shirow wrote:It looks like Frank is pulling out the stops to attempt to upstage Ricky. Competition is good.
Khan v's his latest non-punching adversary just won't cut it I am afraid. Earl would be the minimum I would expect to see..
C'mon Frank - pull out all the stops and show us you are still the UK's No 1 despite Ricky fighting in Las Vegas against the biggest name out there on the same night..
No, I don't think you are wrong - but Earl at least technically has only lost one title fight and that was in an up and downer for the WBO world title. Katisdis could be out of action for some time with the cuts he sustained in his last fight and might very well be not the same fighter himself after 2 wars. I'm sure the still ambitious Earl would be gunning for a rematch, or maybe a shot at the... wait for it.... Vacant interim (or interim interim) title should Kastisdis be out of action for some time. I thought last month he was still ranked in the top 5 with the WBO - but that has now slipped.steve689 wrote:Maybe i'm being harsh on Earl but why is he aiming at World/Euro level? He was slurring BEFORE the Katsidis fight! I think he is punch drunk, after his struggle with Angel Ramirez i thought Khan would be using him as a stepping stone. Am i way off the mark on his future achievements?

Whatever it is for Earl, step up or step back, its a massive payday for him and Graham Earl hasnt had too many of those - Earl would be too much for Khan IMO and I cant see FW going for him yet - I thought Khan was forced to fight Jon Thaxton so whats happened there - Either man is a huge risk for Franks up and comming star fighter so I think both will be avoided - Lee Meager, the wild card, could also spoil the Khan dream so I cant see him as a choice of opponent either - Khan needs a better test than Lawton but nobody with a decent chance of beating him - I would love to see Khan in with any of them but if I was managing his career it would be a very different matter and they would be at least 3 fights away.stujones wrote:Fair do's if this does happen... big fight for Khan, but big fight for Earl also. it il b nice to see khan facing a fighter like Earl with some ability, but i cant help been sceptical as to why FW would go 4 the fight, if Earl is on form then credit 2 em and it il deffinatly b worth a watch
will b intresting to see if the match actually comes off though or if it is just talk.
Hopefully FW raising the class of Khans opponents finally!

Fair enough - though I don't think the film's overrated. It is an excellent study in degeneracy, uncomfortable situations, and addiction.Terry D wrote:You are not being pedantic. You are just failing to understand that the man who uttered the word "demand" is also the man who walked into the tea rooms and both are indentified, correctly, as Richard E. It is Ok, I understand how you can fail to see that the two can be mixed. If I said Richard E. Grant has just entered his room it would have looked a bit odd and fallen flat. So you mix it up. Two references to pivotal scenes, in an overrated film it must be said, tied-up in a throwaway line is pretty good going I'd say. In fact it is awesome.
The quip works though, as shown by the fact you got the film.
It is also well acted and the dialogue is superb.
As to Earl - I like him. A fighter's fighter. I would love to see him burst Khan's bubble. And see the look on Allegedly's face

I thought that Earl looked lacklustre in the fight previous to Katsidis to be honest. Looked like he was going through the motions at times.
Earl was forced into a toe to toe with Katsidis and that made it a very exciting fight whilst it lasted, but he did take a hell of a lot of punishment in there. Earl is not the fastest or sharpest of fighters, but he is tough, strong and brave. Perhaps exactly the type of learning fight that Khan needs right now (no disrespect to Earl).
