it would be helpful to step up naturally rather than jumping from Commonwealth to "world" which to me is foolish.
Taking such jumps is quite the norm in this day and age, off the top of my head look at Eubank, Benn, Calzaghe, Maccrinelli, Reid, Lockett, Farnell, Hatton, Rees, Gomez, Harrison, Matthews, Foster.

I do def agree the traditional route is better but normally that is not the route FW fighters take

One proves oneself worthy to fight for a title if they have had the meaningful fights that holding a European title involves. Also I believe it gets you automaticaly top 10 with the WBC (I think No. 3 but I might have made that up).

I don't know if I can think of a Warren fighter who's fought for the EBU title in recent years although Im perfectly prepered to be proved wrong. My assumption is because they order tough mandetories, for example Howard Eastman got people from easten europe who were no fun to fight but with no glamor involved.

Maccrinelli isn't a world champion he hasn't fought the top 3 fighters in his weight class and unless it has a good fighter holding it as a proper world title, its certainly not big 3.

Arthur fought and held the EBU from 2005 -06. Other than that Wayne Alexander held It In 2002. Williams lost to that fat slug Samil Sam too.

Rhodes v Duran is on Saturday at LM.
If Rhodes prevails then Rhodes v Pryce makes sense but I agree it's a domestic match up - but a good un.
If Pryce moves on then Rhodes should fight for the vacant Commonwealth title but not a clue who against.

Was Williams with Warren at that point. Forgot about Arthur still a shockingly small amount of European champions.

British boxing is full of guys who overreach and have little chance while other, more talented guys are left to fester. i see this as being worst that Nicky Cook and Michael Hunter going in and getting battered -they had been the Euro route (I think) & still weren't ready.

I just think it'd be a shame if after the first time he excelled he gets thrown in and brutalised. If he'd have knocked out Jennings and outworked Olusegun he could say those were "world class performances", but I think ppl are going overboard after *good* wins over Concepcion and Small.

BoxingChat =---= is Pryce getting a title shot? If so, how is this title shot different from the title shots of Skelton and co?

possibly there are more allegidly corrupt promoters sniffing around the HW division making shots more difficult.
