Rumours still rife of a Mayweather-Hatton showdown

Last week, I posted how Bob Arum is looking to stage a showdown between Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather Junior. The rumour originated from Las Vegas and is still in the Vegas press:

well cant see mayweather coming over to manchester, if it was in vegas i would go 8)

It would be an excellent box office fight if they make it, assuming Hatton gets past Tackie in good shape.
I think Bob must see Hatton as an easy target for Floyd - who do you think wins over 12 rounds then bennie?

It is really a fairly no-lose situation for Hatton as well, seeing as few people would give him a chance to win anyhow.

If he did manage to win, he could pretty much get a fight with whoever he wanted. If I were allegedly, I would jump at the chance.

I don't see it as a great choice for Mayweather however, becuase Hatton isn't a bona-fide world champion, and there are plenty of other fights out there for him.

I thought it was interesting how the Las Vegas Review, one of the better American newspapers, labelled Ben Tackie "Forgettable".

Hatton v Mayweather is a mouth watering propect.
If it can be made I may even have to get a ticket - its a potentially great night for British boxing.

Hatton would really test Mayweather at the new weight and Mayweather's legendary defensive skills would be really tested by Hatton's irrepressable body attack.

I will believe it when I see it, however.
FW has too much to lose by letting it happen, especially in the USA.

Hatton's made for Mayweather, IMO it would be a carbon copy of Jirov v Toney

Can't see Hatton winning, but could do OK.

Take Jesus Chavez or Sosa fight - RH is naturally bigger, will throw alot of leather and may hit harder than anyone else FM has faced (except possibly Corrales?).

RH is strong on inside (vital to taming FM IMO) and can maintain the kind of work-rate that MAY trouble Mayweather - add that to the accumulation of body blows (aasuming he can land a few) slowing FM a little (when combined with the inevitable weight gaining) and it might be lcloser than most think.

Hatton stopped on cuts - mid to late rounds.
