Hearns has the worst possible style for Hopkins. That being said Tommy's legs were never quite right after he went to 75.

I assume it is Hearns before then. I think he keeps Hopkins on the end of his jab and if Bernard tries to bull his way inside he drills him with his right hand.

Hopkins isn't really going to press the kind of pace that will wear Hearns down and doesn't have the big punch to stop him.

Out of 10 fights. Hearns wins 6 comfortable decisions, knocks Nard cold twice & Nard stops him late twice.

Why? He doesn't fight at a quick enough pace to tire Hearns. Tommy didn't have stamina issues.

I think Hopkins is much the more effective fighter at MW, where Hearns had chin problems. I think Hearns would build up a lead but Hopkins strength, durability and technique keeps him in the fight and enables him to take Hearns out late.

Hopkins is mostly a defensive fighter, he is no pressure fighter. He will lose to Hearns who would outbox him for a clear decision. I’m not sure if Hearns can stop Hopkins because Hopkins has a good chin. Also Hopkins is hard to hit clean.

I love to watch Hearns fight and I would pick him to win a decision.

Though having said that I havent watched much of Hopkins apart from his loss to RJJ and his Echols fight to really give a good opinion.

I do like Hopkins however he seems like a pretty cool guy and is fun to watch.

Im going to have to go with Hearns.

If we're talking about Hopkins who fought Taylor then Hearns would win. If we're talking about Hopkins who fought in the tournament, I would pick Hopkins by a late stoppage. Hopkins can take Hearns' punch, not as well as Hagler, but I don't see Tommy stopping Hopkins. Hopkins is an excellent body puncher, he can get to Tommy's chin. Hopkins can really explode on Hearns in the championship rounds where Hearns could be gotten to as, Leonard showed in two fights... and Hopkins isn't exactly a weak puncher, even if he's not a big puncher. I wouldn't rule out a Hearns decision, but Hopkins can get to Tommy and I would favor X in trilogy.
