Look, you know the score where I'm concerned and I'll never fall out with you, but I will disagree with you !
Business is business and ultimately this is not a massive venue - 14,000 I believe.
As I understand it, the Casino have taken their slice to take care of the high rollers - fair enough, don't you agree ?
Thr Promotor, Golden Boy have taken their share to take care of their high rollers - fair enough don't you agree ?
7,800 left over. 3,900 to each of the fighters - fair enough ?
I just don't see why people have a gripe here.
I saw this coming from a mile off.
If the lunatics were stupid enough to book up their visit before having a ticket, more fool them. They clearly don't understand how boxing works.
They were there to be exploited and that's what has happened with the PPV charge.
I am very lucky, I have my tickets. They've cost me serious dough but hey this is an experience, not just a fight.
Hello Mate - at last sensible debate - I have no problems with you disagreeing at all - crack on!!!

Those lunatics as you put it - love Ricky Hatton - to see it first hand at the Urango fight and then even more so at the Castillo fight was very humbling and I will tell you why - I thought I was an enthusiastic boxing fan who is lucky to get what I have out of the sport - the reason why I was so humbled by these Hatton fans is that they truly have put their money where their mouths are and I honestly believe this Las Vegas thing with Mayweather is exploitation at its very worst.

I might be wrong Spuddy, but I think the true nucleus of fans - by that I mean there from the start - have been looked after.
Look we're both very fortunate people in that regard but I do know that the 33,000 applicants is true.
He could never have satisfied demand - even if Denis had been involved in the negotiations !!!!

It was always going to be in a casino. Ergo: a lot more people would have wanted to go than could have. Yes, 10'000 tickets would have been lovely, but Mayweathers team would always insist on parity, and the venue would have its own policy (as it they all do, and have always done) for complimentary tickets.

Nothing you say is invalid, its just obvious, been done to death already, and probably been aired by people with more influence than those who post on here.

Of course not Mr Beagle but by very virtue of things being a "joint" promotion would have meant a larger say on the ticket allocation.

Lets throw another name into things - If Hatton was still with W arren and this fight was still on in Vegas - do you think the ticket allocation would have been the same?

In addition - okay let me concede with the ticket allocation argument - what excuses are there for charging $50 a time for the Close Circuit option in the casino's -

I will say again there is another money being generated in this fight with memorabilia, TV revenue's and tickets etc etc that they could have made that huge gesture to the fans by putting the Close Circuit side of things on free!!!

More valid points - but by the sheer fact that people accpeting "thats the way it is" is the very reason why people in the know and in a position of influence have not had to answer for what has gone on.

Another point - lets see if Sky TV push up their prices knowing how many people want to watch this fight - if they do watch the abuse in their direction.

So what is your answer? we boycott all casino fights until they hold world title fights in the rose-bowl?

Vegas is where the money is, the fighters wont want to move the big fights from there or msg, they wont want to lose money, no matter what the fans think. The fight is in the US which is a ppv-driven market. Over here it would be a gate-driven market.

So should we look forward to seeing you marching up and down the high street with a sandwich board reading 'down with greedy hattons and golden boy' in the near future?

I personally would happily pay 50 dollars to watch that fight on closed circuit if I was going to vegas, it's frigging peanuts. I'll be paying that much almost to watch it at home.

Spuddy,
Just had to disappear to pick up the daughter from College !
In response to your post
1/ If a joint promotion had been suggested, this fight would not be taking place. End of.
2/ Had Warren been involved there would have been no fight. Only Golden Boy could have pulled this off. End of.
3/ Merchandising - it's £25 for the pack FFS I've yet to see an official T Shirt anywhere for that price !!!
4/ CCTV - business is business. Potentially 7,000 fans without a ticket in Vegas - eerm chance to coin a bit more ??
Look, if you're daft enough to book a flight and accomodation on some far flung hope you'll walk onto a ticket then more fool you but hey having done so, another $40 is cheaper than Sky will be at home.
Sorry to sound cynical but the head rules the heart.
Little question for you.
If Clinton Woods is offered a rematch with RJJ for megabucks in Vegas, and Denis is offered joint promotion, but the Brit fans are only offered 2,000 tickets what do you think would happen ?
Time to get real Spuddy.

James & Beagle

Your responses are worthy of reply - you, me and many others are extremely forunate in many DIFFERENT WAYS - In fact Beagle I have stated to you personally, I regard myself as one of the luckiest sports fans ever - but this is not about us -

James to bring you into this - you state you are quite happy to pay the 50 dollars to watch the fight on close circuit, I suspect there are quite a few others who would join you in those sentiments -

The only way I can answer and it is the point I have made all along - Hatton fans were truly magnificent in that a lot of them went skint to get to Vegas to watch Ricky fight Urango - it was his dream to fight in Vegas and it was many a sports fan to see a British fighter fight in the Boxing Captial City of The World -

Then bloody hell what happens next a fight is made again for Vegas - this time against Castillo - what happens even more fans turn up - now many of them are not forutnate as many of us on here are in our different ways - they come from different backgrounds but nonetheless the point I stressed in another post - they went out to get another loan, or another credit card or they failed to pay the rent or the mortgage to get to that Castillo fight and yet again they were magnificent in their support.

Now regardless of how well off you are - or even worse if you do not earn loads of dosh and you are loaned up to the hilt - to be asked to go to Vegas for a third time in a year is a truly f*cking massive ask for anyone to do!!!!! .... but then for them fans who has tried their best to second guess things by booking the flights and Casino a bit cheaper before final details come out about tickets whilst to some may seem stupid - but to me it shows how much they love Hatton and what he is about -

But to then be told the ticket allocation is derisory and unfortunately you won't be getting a ticket - but you can watch it on a TV screen for a SMALL $50 is in my view a dam right disgrace!!!

It is all very well you, me and anyone saying yeah or no we will or won't pay - but what about those who are that potty about the sport or Hatton who cannot afford it?? - let me wait for the answer - what are they doing in Vegas then - or were they going to buy a ticket so why not a CCTV one - b*llocks is my answer to that.

How much really would it cost Golden Boy promotions to put this fight on giant screens and charge people f*ck all - when they could recoup the money in memorabilia/programmes etc etc

You lot have a right to your opinions - clearly I am in the minority of ONE - thus I have to accept I am wrong on the points I have made.

Beagle - I have spoke to you recently amongst a couple of others at my complete disillusion and complete disgust at what limited things I have seen going on behind the scenes - whilst I fully accept boxing is a business as well as a sport - I am stunned at the b*llocks that goes on.

This Hatton/Mayweather fiasco ranks up there with the very worst in my view.

I also have to finally accept no matter what I will say or write on here or elsewhere I will get shouted down whether I am right or wrong - f*ck me its taken 8 years for the penny to drop - time to give up.

To those who it applies to - ****** *****!!!

I feel the time is right for an O/T thread on that subject. Tossing the spuds is my opening gambit.

Or at least let bars get the PPV so fans can watch it down the pub. These blackouts are a joke.

About the ticket problems? Did the Hatton's negotiate enough or did they sign what offer made the Hatton's the most money? It just seems that way.

Fighting a Vegas casino In an average sized 17,000 seat arena doesn't seem worthy of a big fight like this.

Didn't channels like ITV bid for the fight but they went for box office because he will make craploads more? He's already a huge multimillionare how much more cash does he need? You hear all the humble talk from Hatton and It's great that he still sees his friends and wants to be treated like any other normal person but at times It's contradicting what he comes out with.

Still get paid like but not get so greedy that they mess up the ticket sales.

That said though I am a fan and hope he wins.

Daft Scousers thought Lennon was a working class hero too yet he lived In a well off surburb In south Liverpool full of doctors and solicitors.

Spud, your original post makes some valid points, however it was clearly made based on the fact that you now want to stick the knife in the Hatton gang for having led Hobson along all this time with their fluttering eyes only for Dennis to get left with his pants down and no action when the big moment finally arrived.

I think this is what has traumatised you so badly "behind the scenes". Thank god the rest of us don't have to experience the horrors with you.

Can you honestly tell me that if Hobson had been involved then he would have got more tickets for British fans? It would have meant a trade off, probably in terms of Hatton's purse money or share of the PPV cake and do you honestly think the Hatton's would make major concessions costing them hundreds of thousands and probably more to have a few more fans in the arena.

Again I stress your original post was valid and would have been a noble if naive crusade was it not tainted with your desire to find the first good excuse to have a dig at the Hattons.

I don't think anyone would need worry advancing on 2,000 tickets allocated to any notional Clinton Woods v Roy Jones II in Vegas fight.

By the way, where were all these mad mancs with mortgages on the hip when Ricky fought 50 miles away in Sheffield and they had to dispense with the standard tariffs and confetti tickets?

The venues in Vegas, where the fight HAD to happen, dictated a smaller gate than the fight COULD have attracted.

No avoiding that.

With in that scheme, Hatton's fans were always booking disappointment.

Perhaps Ricky could repay them by fighting Junior Witter at Man City in April before cashing his chips with DLH in the Autumn back in the US.

And if Hobson didn't see his jilting coming.....he should have asked, because everybody else did.

Oh and Spud. The Spud dust is dropping in my Spud-in-a-huff Egg Timer.

Anyone hazard a guess at how long he has left.
