Sellars for Enzo...

Post by yiddo14 »

Looks like Erza Sellars will be fighting Enzo for his "world title" on November 3rd.

Had one fight in three years, and has been stopped in 2 of his last 3.

Can't wait for this one! :-?

that is poor when Darnell Wilson would have made a decent opponent. This is actually taking the piss if it's true. Shit, why not try to make a fight vs Adamek - before he signed to fight Cunningham - or Vassiliy Jirov. Ppl say why do ppl have a low opinion of Warren, well it's not hard to see why.

He gave Nelson some trouble. Can't remember if he dropped Johnny. But Johnny stopped Ezra with a right hand.

It's another easy win for Enzo but I just hate this hermetic Welsh thing, where they seem to be seizing titles and carefully picking opponents.

David Haye will be laughing his head off at this. He's a fighter who has a mind like a fight fan & I'd love to see what he thinks of this "development."

Enzo is good but I fear he's going to be just another Joe.

What the hell is wrong, was it too stressful fighting Braithwaite?

People said the same about Braithwaite though.

Had Enzo fought these guys in their prime, they may have knocked him out had they landed anything big, but he is fighting them years after their best days.

Here's the link anyway...

After Sellars is beaten in one, who will be up next for Enzo?
Carl Thompson maybe? What is Terry Dunstan upto these days?

I'm not being too defensive here because I don't need to be, but there has been very little praising of Welsh fighters and a lot of condemnation at times on this forum.

They have done well for such a small stable in a little town in the Welsh valleys, of that there can be no argument.

We are a tiny nation, forever oppressed by you Anglo Saxon swines :)

How about say 10 of the opponents between Eubank and Kessler...Come on, you know they take the piss out of us making these shit fights

I've praised Enzo's ability, I guaranteed he'd beat Braithwaite and I think he'd kikc his ass any year. But they can't talk unification, get called out by a decent exciting puncher Wilson and then do this.

I remember some of the crap fights Calzaghe had and he's dad's going round comparing Joe to Sugar Ray Leonard and Muhammad Ali. These ppl are fricking PR disasters - or would be if the general fan knew bollocks all.

Lets hope Enzo doesn't wait til he's in his mid 30's before stepping up.

We all praised him for fighting Braithwaite and the performance was excellent. Aren't you frustrated that he's followed it up with a massive leap backwards? Sellers was dangerous but fragile in his prime, now at 39, having been very inactive, what are Enzo, Enzo and Frank hoping for? Maybe Maccarinelli needs another KO1 on his record to boost his confidence? They stand to gain nothing from this fight. Calloway would be better than this, how does it get sanctioned? (I know, stupid question with governing bodies these days)

The WBO are so shit how can they sanction this?

They have sanctioned some right shit for Warren - Pudwill, McIntyre etc. At least Sellers was world class or thereabouts once I suppose he's better than those two!

The WBA is just as bad, how the fornicate did Rees get a shot at M'Baye lightwelter title as a lightweight who hadn't fought anyone top 10 in his own country? What is going on with them at cruiser?

It's very frsutrating but in fairness Braithwaite was his last fight, great performance, the praise was short-lived and he doesn't make the matches.

I'm sure he would take on Haye but Haye has gone for Mormeck and then says he is stepping up...

And I'm not defending Joe either, he's a great fighter but his dad talks bollocks. Good trainer though.

He can afford to be proud, who wouldn't be in his position, but the Super Middleweight division has hardly been rich with talent for the last decade has it. Jones moved up, he's beaten Lacy, Woodhall, Brewer, Eubank Reid et al. We'd have all liked to have seen Ottke or Beyer in with him but I feel Kessler is a step up from them anyway.

A very good test.

Trust me, I'm not the token Welshman who is going to stand up for every Welsh fighter because they're Welsh, far from it.

Rubbish fight - Sellers gets sparked in 2 rounds in an IBF eliminator, and is rewarded with a straight shot at Enzo.

Reflects badly on Enzo, with his team avoiding an easy to make fight with Wilson. One step forward two steps back.

PS Rees still beat M'Baye though didn't he, was a very good performance and it's up to someone else to knock him off his perch....

By all means fair play to Rees winning that fight. The point is he didn't earn the right to the title shot though and proves the governing bodies will put anyone in their rankings if asked nicely enough.
Anyway back to Enzo, PR lesson, don't rubbish Wilson's claim for a shot if you're going to fight Sellers next

well said. let's just hope it's not true. there's any # of good fights that could be made - if you can't get hol dof a belt holder there's interesting names out there that would for a shot at a world title - Hide, Jirov, Wilson, Adamek and so on. Sellers is neither interesting or respectable enough a fight I'm I'm sick of this

Let's face it, the results of the "fights" on the big April show were all foregone conclusions. The only interest was in guessing which minute of which round they'd be over. This time the main event is a 50-50 affair, so we can't expect one of the stable's other stars to be in a fight he could lose, can we? LOL. What next? Amir Khan in with someone with a 90% KO record on Saturday night TV? I think we've just got to be grateful for Joe-Kessler this time.

But I think people are frustrated because they are starting to actually rate Enzo quite highly and know he's better than this. If putting him against good opposition on a Calzaghe bill is out of the question then have him headlining his own one. Surely he can now be considered a headline act?

You're right. Enzo should be topping his own bills now. Perhaps they're just keeping him safely ticking over until they see what happens with Calzaghe.

Is this the same Haye who got done by Carl Thompson, who got done by Sellers in 4 brutal rounds?

Ahh yes that's the one, the same one who turned down Macca twice.
