Steve Roberts announces his retirment.

Steve Roberts Retires.
Re: Steve Roberts Retires.
No surprises, really. Roberts came back for the title crack at Martinez and losing to Darren Rhodes scuppered that. Steve had talent, but always looked half asleep to me.stujones wrote:Steve Roberts announces his retirment.

remember he nearly gave it all up before the turnaround fight against Scott Dixon....
He didnt seem entirely up for this second comeback and you have to be in this game....
Boring to watch most of the time but a simple guy who did well for himself and kept his feet firmly on the ground.

He won't be too sorely missed.bennie wrote:No surprises, really. Roberts came back for the title crack at Martinez and losing to Darren Rhodes scuppered that. Steve had talent, but always looked half asleep to me.stujones wrote:Steve Roberts announces his retirment.

I am one of the "old-fashioned" types, who like their boxers to look like they actually want to be there.
He looked gunshy even before he came to pieces - almost like (deep down) he KNEW he wasn't up to it.
Re: Steve Roberts Retires.
Roberts is wise to get out. He clearly doesn't bounce back very well mentally when he's been nailed on the chin.
Shame, I didn't think he looked that bad against Rhodes until he got clipped although I wouldn't have fancied him at all against Martinez.
