STEPHEN FOSTER JNR – Had a one round stoppage win on Saturday of old for Jean Marc Codet who took him the full 8 rounds last time out .Jnr puts this down to fighting this time at Super Featherweight and next time out steps up to the plate and boxes Alex Arthur on December the 15th in Edinburgh.

JON KAYS – Looked impressive in stopping Sergie Rozhackmens in 4 rounds on the VIP show in Leeds last Friday evening.

WAYNE PINDER – Made the venue but not the ring on Friday when his fight collapsed due to matchmaking difficulties

MIKE GOMEZ- Rapped his hard training up on Friday with 12 rounds on the body belt and finished the session under Championship weight.

ALI NUUMBEMBEE – Has returned home to Namibia for a few days to attend the funeral of his father who passed away last week. Ali will return to get back in training for his first defence of his Commonwealth title on the 30th November.

it's nice for Ali that he won a professional boxing title while his Dad was alive. It must have meant the world to both.
I've heard Ali's Dad was captured and taken prisoner in civil war (which Ali had to escape from) and got kept in a hole he couldn't stand up in til eventually he couldn't stand and I think had to have a leg amputated or some such horrific injury.
It must take a lot of mental strength to have that kind of thing happen and go on to be a champion. Deserves every credit.

Nice post and all very true. Ali did manage to show his dad the belt and it did mean the World to both of them.

His dad died from the injuries sustained while imprisoned and was due to have his other leg amputated the day after he died.

Ali is still in Namibia but will be returning at the end of the month and will be defending his belt as stated above on the 30th Nov.

Not ideal preperation for a Title fight, but Ali won the Title within a month of my dad passing away (he helped us carry the coffin) so let's hope he can defend it in honor of his father.

Sad for Ali, wish him well Chado.

Pleased to hear Gomez is on weight. I hope the Ingles can put Johanssen back together, if he's shows a wisp of self-doubt or fragility, the one place you don't want to be - is in the ring with Gomez (if he's 70% of his best).

I think Gomez may well splatter Johansson. Though I know Carl was in no physical or mental shape last time out and the performance belies a credible talent.

yes, a real African warrior, and a nice guy to boot by the sounds of it.
Ali was the first guy to beat a good friend of mine, Francis Jones.....in fact when he went to Scotland to box Anderson I took a side-bet o him to beat Anderson on the back of that. I turned the bookies over, if you count winning 25 quid as turning them over...

Unbelieveable what his Dad had to go through, but at least got to see his son become a champion.

Johanneson is definitely not training with the Ingles for this one, and he didn't for the last one either.

Having stayed away from Wincobank all through his training camp for the biggest fight of his life - despite John and Dominic trying to get him down - he finally pitched up for a 'trial spar' on the Monday before the fight and Jon Baguely and Adam Kelly ran rings round him - honestly. He looked awful.

They told him then that they'd stick with him for this one but would only train him in future if he committed himself properly to training at Wincobank. I don't think they've really heard from him since and he definitely isn't using them for this fight. I think he's using some other trainer linked to Maloney.

Why is he not training with the Ingles? Has he fallen out with them? Has he lost the plot?

well he's obviously got some kind of issue.....if not with them then what? Getting to Sheffield....hardly the other side of the world is it?
I'm sure Carl must have something sorted out cos after the beating he got last time out one doesn't imagine he'd want to go through that kind of nightmare again in a hurry.

That chant is brilliant when the Ali fans go for it. Bu-ma-ye does sound like Nuumbembe.

Sad news about his old man, hope Ali fighting for his honour will put an inspired performance in his first defence.
