A sensible decision but its sad we wont be seeing him again - Like Michael Hunter he gave his all and fought like a tiger - He did have a good career in boxing and gave great VFM so I wish him well in whatever he does with his life.

This always looked a tough one for Ward, especially when you consider he was outclassed by Martin Power. I can't understand why SKY decided to screen this contest instead of the finely poised Eastman-Elcock clash.

I agree with that, but I would imagine it was presumably having more trust in Matchroom than Pat Cowdell to work with - not meaning to sound in anyway disrespectful, Sky have had a long relationship with Matchroom - not so much with Cowdell. I'm sure had Hennessey won the purse bids then it would have been on TV.

Did Sky have a choice then, either the Ward bill or the Eastman bill - if yes, then they definately made the wrong one.

Ward did very well to win the Commonwealth title, but this challenger had way too much for him.

It comes down to personal judgement , and I say this as someone who is not in favour of fights being stopped too soon, but I really couldn't see any point in sending Ward out for the 4th round. The 3rd round proved beyond measure that the Ghanain had the fight won.

On the flip side, I thought Mark Callaghan should have been allowed to continue against Munroe. Yes, he was clearly coming second, but he was still throwing his own punches and making a fight if it. Callaghan has worked his whole career in the hope of winning a title and for the corner to dispirit him like they did and then pull him out didn't make sense to me.

Heard that Callaghan is going through some personal problems and he took this fight to have something to focus on and im sure his corner knew what he is going through but I do agree with you, the fact he had taken the fight and was in the fight disspiriting him probably wasn't the best thing to do. He has thought better than Munroe(no disrespect to him as he is good and can get better)and been in tougher fights and pulled himself through. Hope he deals with what he's dealing with ok now the training and fight is out the way

Apparently they turned down Eastman-Elcock because Eastman-Ashira was so boring. Maybe so, but I'm sure they still would have got a lot more viewers for what was an intriguing domestic encounter, than they did for a week-old Arce-Rojas.
