Its seems as though Duddy gets his crack at Pavlik...

OK, im not going to put my green tinted glasses on but is this a good move?? Will a decent performance improve his standing with some or will the bubble be burst..?

Or Can he win???

Either way I see him getting future title shots, due to his popularity

Was that the closest available date to St Patricks?

It could end up in a (2 weeks before) St Patrick's Day massacre..

Pavlik is a class above and bangs hard... Duddy takes too many shots as it, so think it may be a brutal beating for five rounds or so before it gets stopped.

I wonder if Arum has realised Duddy's gone as far as he can, reached his level... and is cashing in now? Duddy's fans will probably stick with him even after a defeat, but it may get Pavlik a whole new fanbase too.... it's not like Kelly will badmouth him or be disrespectful before or after the fight, and with his style Duddy's large following may well take to Pavilk too?

If Duddy get's clocked that regularly by Yori Boy then at this stage Pavlik will have him seeing shamrocks before the half way point.

Pavlik's defence is not that good either and Duddy has decent power. Pavlik will probably knock him out by the middle rounds, but Duddy is not without hope.

If this is true then Dudd will be lucky to see the 3rd round... he's simply not world class.... but Pavlik deserves an easy defence after his recent fights, and this could be fun while it lasts.........

He has built a decent following, that is enough. Plenty of title challengers don't really deserve their shot.

I take it that Arum thinks that Duddy will be booked for glorious defeat, increasing his marketablity..

Strikes me Arum rates Duddy but realises its fashionable to knock Duddy..

Definitely a money making exercise for Team Pavlik. The fight will be over after 4 or 5 rounds, it could even be a complete blow out early on. It's good to see Pavlik getting back in there quickly. As long as he doesn't get injured this fight shouldn't get in the way of more meaningful fights later on in the year.

There is knocking Duddy and there is being realistic.

I like the guy and would be over the moon if he won but I just cant see him doing it.

Pavlik is huge and dangerous.

No lose fight for Duddy, he'll go out on his shield and make it exciting, blood and guts stuff for however briefly the fight lasts. Don't think this will damage his rep unless he gets blown out in the first and the exposure on HBO wil probably make him an even bigger ticket seller next time out.

As long as he puts in a half decent performance against Pavlik he's practically guaranteed another shot against one of the other champs soon after for another big payday. Good luck to him.

It is a massive step....i have only seen Duddy twice i think....one was a quick KO, the other time i saw him he didn't look anything special....one dimensional

At the very least, i do believe he is genuinely heavyhanded, so he'll have a chance, a slim one though..

....for Pavlik, he's had two very tough fights, his popularity is high so this fight is an understandable one to take...i just hope the one after will be a biggy.....everytime i have heard him speak i get the impression, that like his fighting style, he is a throw back....he'll want to be back in there with the big names

Duddy has to try and make a Gatti-like name in this fight. I don't think he can win. Pavlik has too many offensive abilities.

C'mon Capt'n how long you been following the sport??

Have you never encountered a 'gimme' first defence before?

Pro boxing is a business and this is the PERFECT first defence from a financial stand point. That might not sit well with some people's ideas of the idea of the nature of sport but its inextractably part of pro boxing I am afraid..
