Great end to the year!

Post by Marlin »

After a few slow months we have a great end to the year coming up:

4 Nov, Calazghe v Kessler

11 Nov, Mosley v Cotto

24 Nov, Vargas v Mayorga

2 Dec, Tarver v Green

9 Dec, Mayweather v Hatton

All these fights will be on Skyringside. So I was wondering how you rank these fights, which ones you will be watching and where?

I'll post mine after a few replies...

Tarver V green for sure, danny green is my favourite fighter havent missed a fight since sean sullivan

Hatton V mayweather ,I think this will be more entertaining than de la hoya mayweather just because their styles are so different

Kessler V Calzaghe, i just cant wait to find out who truly is the best in the super middleweight division and i really cant seperate them they are both terrific boxers

Dawson Vs Geale should be great to end 2007.

Almost forgot this one - Bika Vs Codrington.

As far as ranking goes, my top three are
Calazghe v Kessler
Mayweather v Hatton
Tarver v Green

I'll try to watch them all, but I definately won't miss the Danny Green fight.

One of the hardest things to do in Melbourne Suburbs is to find out which pubs/clubs are going to show the fights.

Where is Kessler/Calzaghe being shown? Setanta sports is broadcasting it I think and not many pubs have them. I am pretty sure Mainevent isn't showing it.

HBO is broadcasting it in America. No word if it will be Pubs & Clubs here or not.

That sucks, it's probably the fight I am looking forward to the most this year.

Its on Skyringside. 14 venues booked in so far, a few more usually pop up close to the date. Its always best to call your local and confirm they're showing it...

As for my original post I think there are two ways to look at it:

In terms of how big the fight is, i.e. importance to the division, quality of the fight etc I think it goes like this:

1) Calazghe v Kessler
2) Mayweather v Hatton
3) Mosley v Cotto
4) Tarver v Green
5) Vargas v Mayorga

In terms of the spectacle and personal preference I would go for:

1) Mayweather v Hatton
=2) Calazghe v Kessler / Tarver v Green
4) Mosley v Cotto
5) Vargas v Mayorga

I will be watching all of the above fights at various pubs and clubs around my area (variety is the spice of life after all). I am pretty pumped for all the fights and can't wait for the first one to get under way!

the varges mayorga fight has been moved up to 168 i dont think either fighter at that weight could be conpetitive against the top 5 fighters at that weight i have calzage, kessler, beyer, lacy and mundine to win easily and im sure more at that weight would take them apart

Neither man intends to make a go of 168, Vargas has said win lose or draw he will retire after this fight and Mayorga has said he will go down as far as 147 so it has no impact on the division. It is just a fight between two bitter rivals that could be a classic war or it could be an absolute flop. I intend to watch it to find out which way it goes!
