For you latecomers to this thread there was a story up at britishboxing.net stating that Wayne Elcock was getting a shot at Arthur Abraham's IBF title in Switzerland on December 8th.

It's been pulled at the request of the champ's team who want a big splash at the press conference on Oct 29th.

Bit late now mind. 8)

Wow - December 8th turning into quite a night, with Khan-Earl and now Elcock-Abraham as appetizers for Hatton-PBF.

Plus Matthew Hatton against the 1994 Arkansas Rodeo champion on the Vegas undercard.

Yeah, just read that. I think 'unexpected' just about covers it. I presume Elcock has leapfrogged Eastman, who was 12 in the IBF rankings, as Wayne was nowhere.

If Wayne wins this then its £sssss all the way - especially for a return in Germany!

I doubt he has the power to stop AA - but he 'might' nick a points decision if he boxes very smart. Box on the move and land a few and stand and fight when needed, AA is not PBF, he can be beaten.

Fantastic news, after a couple of bad defeats Wayne has got himself back with some good performances (and no TV) and now finds himself fighting for a world title. Good luck to him

Great fight for Wayne. Made up for him getting a big shot like this. The way sanctioning bodies are dictated to by the promoters money means anyone can get the call for an unexpected title shot!

I was hoping Arthur would be stepping up for a unification but let's hope after Wayne beats him it will become academic!

If SKY and Setanta and ITV could get their heads together we could have well over 8 hours of boxing action from Ireland, Switzerland, England and US.

Not gonna happen though but that's what SKY+ is for.

Im delighted for Wayne..who would ever have thought he would get a world title shot when Murphy was sparking him..what a night this will be!!!

Abraham wins IMO but this is the best night of Boxing since the old SKY pay-per-views(war of the world ect)

AA is very static as a fighter, strong and powerful just like Elcocks sparing partner Tony Oakey, should be a great fight, I would go for Elcock on points.

Come on, i'm sure being knocked out by Lawrence Murphy and losing the way he did against Scott Dann didn't help. Fair play to Elcock but lets not act like this shot is overdue?? Yes he was messed around by Lockett but look where they are both at now

Steve, fully respect the fact you're getting behind Wayne, and I'd love for him to pull it off somehow as well, but I can't help but think you've got the rose-tinted glasses on with regards to AA.
He's in a different league to Oakey and I find it hard to envisage a circumstance where Wayne is able to fend off his strength and power over 12 rounds.
I can see Wayne doing well in the early rounds before getting worn down for a late stoppage.

If Elcock won I'd say him considering the upsets and level he's at.
