funny cos i was thinking the opposite - far enough Duddy should plough through the Prince - but good entertainment with Haughian, McCloskey and Matty Hatton and the Matthew Macklin v Alessio Furlan should also be good and a decent gauge of Duddy's level in comparison to the opperators over this side.Cannibal wrote:It's a piss poor card really. The first 2 guys Duddy had lined up would of been grand but as it is it'll just be something for Duddy's highlight reel in January when he takes on Pavlik.
Sweeneys debut will also be interesting to anyone who follows the amateurs

No, I was planning on going and I left the tickets too late and they were 120 Euros when I looked and I thought it was too high, feck I paid that price to see Hatton Tszyu! then the Duddy fight kept changing. I'll watch it ringside in the living room on RTE, looks a good undercard.sligobhoy67 wrote:you invloved in the card tonight Mr. Hawk??The Hawk wrote:Thats a question you ought to ask Big Ian!sligobhoy67 wrote: just as long as you recognise Belfast as Irish!!![]()
I'll get in quicker for the next Dublin card, and McCullough at the Kings Hall if that is all on for sure as its only 4 miles away.
I'd like to see Duddy at the Kings Hall soon as well. All this talk of Pavlik is crazy, he's not ready for that yet.

yer not wrong - I cant believe the McLoughlin brothers are so short sighted to put him in with Pavlik just now. I would prefer to see him test himself against Elcock (with a British title on the line) or take on Sebastian Sylvester or Amin Asikainen - semms more logical! The Hawk wrote:No, I was planning on going and I left the tickets too late and they were 120 Euros when I looked and I thought it was too high, feck I paid that price to see Hatton Tszyu! then the Duddy fight kept changing. Certainly is, it would make a great TV blood bath with Duddy getting took apart inside 4 rounds I reckon.
Really the likes of Elcock would be a nice fight and would test Duddy alright, that would be a great match for the Kings Hall. There's a long way to go with Duddy, and tonights fight is no prep for a fighter like Pavlik with raw power and is an old throw back just looking to take you out.
Fight the best of British and if he win's those go down the European title route and then look beyond is what I reckon.
I see your from Sligo but now in Manchester, the Strand Bar is a great spot by Strandhill on the coast there, many a pint in there!
I know fighters often have to take their shot when they get it, but Duddy is the type of fighter who sells tickets and should be able to get a shot again, if he did not take this one. I really see him getting taken apart badly by Pavlik.Cannibal wrote:I think it is now or never with a world title shot for Duddy. I think his style is such that he could lose to a fringe fighter before he even gets the chance if he waits.
I think he'll end up being a win some - lose some fighter at the top level.
If they want TV time and money out of Duddy they want to do what they done with Gatti in the late stages of his career pre Mayweather, and move him right. I think they could ruin him too quickly by feeding him to Pavlik as soon as the New Year, utter madess I reckon!

I disagree - the opportunity is there now to fight the world's No 1 middleweight for all the glory - Duddy MUST take his opportunity when it comes.
At age 28 and after 21 pro fights he isnt going to improve to any great degree in terms of technical boxing, why hang around at lower levels when the chance of a lifetime is within your grasp?
If he loses, even if its a blow out, Duddy can rebuild at the domestic level and look towards Europe.
Too many modern fighters knock back opportunities to fight in the big time/spot light for fear of getting exposed/losing badly.
There is no shame in losing a fight and this fight provides Duddy a world stage on which to demonstrate what he can do.
In all likelihood he will lose and lose early, but at least when he is an old man he can look back on his career knowing he did his best and fought the best.

True enough Terry, fair points! ........it would be a throw back blood bath war for however long it lasted.TerribleTerry wrote:I disagree - the opportunity is there now to fight the world's No 1 middleweight for all the glory - Duddy MUST take his opportunity when it comes.

I was thinking Duddy would be a named sacrifice in which Palvik would reel off a brutal knockout for his collection, when Duddy should not even be in the frame yet for the world number one.
I think he should take a couple more decent fights, as this tonight should be no tougher than a sparring session. I see what you mean however.
Terry D wrote:I've seen Aaron fight a few times. He is tall and rangy. At this point any Pavlik comparison ends. If Duddy gets hit a million times in this fight, as he has done against other LWM's, we might have to form the SACF (Society Against Cruelty to Fighters) and try to boycott a Pavlik fight.
Not least because Pavlik-Taylor II should be in the works.
Good topic, i was wondering whether RTE would be showing it on the net. I can't get RTE on my box so will settle for watching the massacre online instead.
As for Duddy-Pavlik, i suppose we all know it's a no brainer with Pavlik taking his man out early but maybe they want to cash in on Duddy. After all with his swashbuckling style he won't have much longevity and i suppose they may as well have Pavlik tear him a new arse as have a nobody catch him and knock him out. After the blows he took against Campas it may happen.
I hope Duddy comes through tonight unscathed and then we may see that King's Hall bill finally develop.
