MICHAEL GOMEZ - Lost last night in his bid to win back his old British S-F weight title with a controversial 6th round stoppage to Carl Johannson . Mike pushed the fight from the beginning to Carl and was having great early success , however as the fight went on the boxing skills of Johannson was turning the fight his way, particular at the end of each round. Mike has only had 6 rounds of competive boxing in the last 20 months and this was shown as he just tried to dig out the win and not use any of his old boxing skills and head movement. It was a good effort , but the chance to take the opportunity did not pay off and we are all sure that with a few more contests behind him in this comeback then Gomez would have won. Mike is now hoping for Carl to win against Mitchell and then he can have the rematch which was promised by Carl and Maloney after the fight when they had a very civil and respectful chat.

GARY SYKES - Moved to 6-0 with a 4th round stoppage of Dwayne Hill in another very entertaining fight . Gary started off superb sticking the jab in Hills face , picking wicked body shots and moving like the prospect he is. However, his inexperience as a pro and liking for a scrap drew him down a level and the fight became a punch up treat for the fans with Gary decking Dwayne and taking a few himself before the stoppage - he will learn from this one.

THOMAZ MAZURKIEWIKZ - Takes on Andrew Ferrans in Scotland in a Welterweight contest on the 2nd November 2007

DANNY HARDING – Makes his comeback from a successful nose operation on the 25th November show in Colne .

STUART McFADGEN - Tops the show in his own town of Colne and expects to shift all the tickets himself !, they will be available from next week

i wouldn't call it a controversial loss, michael was just floored and had took a heavy right, i couldn't see him coming back. Better that he can go on to fight another day . Of course he will argue this point with me as he's a very proud man. And he has alot to be proud of after last nights fight. Have to see what happens now regards him rebuilding, maybe this fight did come to soon for him, but it does seem that anyone who can get through the first 4/5 rounds will stand a chance of outlasting Gomez. Whatever happens with him , i wish him good luck.

You must be having a wind up. He was well beaten up over the last two rounds and the stoppage was perfect.

There is no chance of a rematch

Mike put up a great effort but there is nothing left in the tank after 4 rounds these days

He must retire or risk getting hurt

There was no controversy there and if Gomez has the resolve and will to build his way back to another title shot I will be surprised.

He put forth a great effort and gave the fans yet another toe to toe thriller but there was only ever going to be one winner after the 3rd in my opinion..

Lol seen the trailer on Gomez's site and Is It true he'd bring women back to the gym?

I think he's been through a few gyms in manc mate. I found him to be very approachable, although Ive no doubt he's a little bit barmy.

Wish his film could get funding, never an oscar nominee, but an interesting tale to tell.

Controversial is not the word for me. Premature sure. Refs jump in easier these days in general but in this case you have a guy, Gomez, who was not going to go out by any means other than on his shield. After the McDonagh fight you can understand Gomez wanting to go out in a blaze of glory and this was denied him by Vann.

Fair enough, on the other hand it gives Gomez a cause, a 'controverisal' stoppage, to rail againt and he will now, possibly, decide that he can carry on fighting and get the rematch to amend this error.

Basically Vann saved Gomez from a few more shots, the bell was close and surely he'd have been pulled between rounds thereby saving face, but he has ensured we probably see Gomez get a bad beating again at some point.

I hope he retires. I've always found him a decent guy to be around, generous with his time and friendly. He has a book on the way and this film to gun for so why not retire?

The fight itself made me think that neither man can go beyond British level. Carl looked awful early and sure he did the job in the end but what if this was Leva fight III? He'd probably just find the middle ground and get blitzed in 2-3 rounds.

Mitchell, if he fights and beats Carl, will have to do a number to hint at any European potential.

Yeah, sometimes I just want to give Carl a good shaking or just a shit load of smelling salts. He looks like he is about to sleep fight in the first couple. He does this most of the time. Of course, its brought him great success and not taking anything away - just looks like he's taken a shit load of tarmazipan or something before the fight and needs to take a few to wake up.
