Rico Genon,

a Philippine featherweight, opened his pro career in 2002. In his 7º bout, he fought for the IBF Pan Pacific Bantamweight Title; his 9º battle was for the WBC Asian Boxing Council Super Bantamweight Title, and his 10º fight was for the vacant Philippine Super Featherweighht Title-PBF Championship...

Until now, Rico Genon had a total of 16 fights: win 0, drew 0, lost 16 (6 by K.O.), or 0-16-0 (!!!) In this disastrous times of 17 weights, four "major organizations", and "superchampion", "champion", "interim champion", "emeritus champion", "alternative champion", "retroactive champion" and all you wants in this nightmare against boxing, someone knows the values of Rico Genon for to be a challenger of a boxing title? How many Rico Genon are in all the world?

The only solution: the unification of the four "principal" versions of "world" champions in each weight and, after, another unification between juniors and classic weights champions: only eight class, and one world champion by weight

Thanks for the reply! The great Eric Crumble is inactive from 2003, and never fought for a title (until now), but, what a record: 0-31 (all by K.O.)-0 1NC; and is "supermiddle" (much weight over Rico Genon); 21 of their lost were in the first round; had LKO 1 in six and seven consecutive bouts, who was his manager, Bela Lugosi? Or Boris Karloff? I believe Rico Genon and Eric Crumble will be considered very good interim champions

Kidding aside, I actually agree with a lot of what you said. Most important to me is the streamlining & exclusivity of championship status. Fewer weight classes would get my support, but I'd be happy with a 100 divisions if it meant one champ per weightclass in return. If I hear about one more, "Super Champion" & "Regular Champion" I'll tear the house down.
