Otherwise its endless old footage of Floyd and Ricky until we get Matthew Hatton at about 2am against another nobody in his 37th bout.

If its 25 quid thats a hell of a hike from previous prices.

Dont think it will make much of a difference to takeup though - most people who would have bought this at 15 or 20 quid will find the extra because its such a one-off fight. I do think it will impact on the next PPV though - those people that might have paid 15 quid for the next big fight might now pass because they felt overcharged on this one.

For us boxing fans, the only consolation is that only big money makes the big fight happen and us paying big ppv prices is part of that equation.

If Floyd KO's Hatton, then there might not be many PPV's in the UK. Remember DLH vs Floyd was "Free". The only PPV fighter in the UK now is Hatton and if he retires (and I don't think Floyd retiring Ricky is out of the equation) then that is the end of the PPV for a while yet.

Any idea of a UK leg for the PPV - Surely there has got to be at that price. No wonder they are hyping it up weekly on Sky.

It depends how long Hatton goes on for. Even if he losses I can see him staying around for 2-3 years with a rebuilding fight or 2 easier defenses of his 140lb ring belt that he will still own. Then unification against a bright champion at 140 or a coming up in weight lightweight champions. Expect his PPVs to be £25 from now on and given Collazo/Urango/Castillo were PPV expect Hatton to be PPV for the remainder of his career win or lose and regardless of competion.

Then he'll pass the batton on to Amir Khan who should be Britains next PPV star. All of Amirs PPVs will be £25 or more

Outrageous!!.... why should we pay twice to watch decent fights!!!!!..... I may well just listen to it on the radio and then watch the inevitable replay a few days later.... its not just the money but the principle of it, I object to having to pay for fights when I already shell out every month for SKY just so I can watch some boxing once a week!!!.....

but the new system is just so tempting.

We wont see £25 again for a while. Not even for Calzaghe v Pavlik or Haye v Peter, whatever you can conjure involving a British fighter.

But I doubt we'll see £14.99 again, I suspect standard fare will be £17.99 or £19.99 next time around.

£24.99.....kants!! Looks like we're paying for the stand that Sky must have made to fight off Setanta.

In saying that I bought Hopkins-Hakkar (??) for 14.99 and that was the biggest load of shit ever to be put on our screens.

Even though 24.99 is abit steep I still won't wait til the next day and download it. I'm gonna make an occasion of it and get some mates round so it'll be a fiver a piece or so, then probably another 100 quid on the bugle to keep me up til 5.

I heard a rumour about this price hike a week ago. So I chased it up through the proper channels at Sky and they told me £14.95.

I was in a bit of a no win situation though as they were hardly going to tell me anything different until they announce it...

It's $50 in the US which has always been a traditionally more expensive market for PPV...Britain waddles behind it's bloated cousin more often than not though...
