No not ideal but better than Sellers
How is beating a Terry Smith a "much lower level" than the guys that Macca has been beating?

Macca has beaten Hobson (a good European level fighter), twice, Braithwaite and Dominguez (both former WBC champions). But the dips in competition have been pretty sick. He was in line to challenge WBO holder Johnny Nelson, but Nelson pulled out injured (twice) and retired, which isn't Mac's fault, but which should make them be a bit more keen to prove something.

Ok i'll give him that but it was still a fight very much on the club circuit and a fight he himself ranks lower than his win over Bob Mirovic and we have seen enough of him to know his limitations.

Anyway it's not relevant in the end as Calloway thinks he is in a position to turn down a title shot. Will be interested to see if he can work his way to another shot in his last few years. Speculate to accumulate old boy

Enzo's apparently fighting Mohamed Azzaoui who's mysteriously appeared in the WBO ratings.

Blimey, he only fought a week or so ago. His record amounts to not a lot, but like the man said, at least he's unbeaten.

Doesnt look like he digs though.

Acitve? This guy is about as 'live' & active as an over/under-active thyroid. Man fought like two weeks ago. He might aswell just be a standing target for Maccarinelli. It should be like target practice, a pad session for Enzo.

This is disgraceful if you ask. The original oppoenent, Sellars was another woeful, highly inferior opponent. From the choices of fighters Macca is due to face, I think it's crystal clear who backed off or made silly demands during negotiations for Haye-Mormeck!

Please, can anyone tell me what Enzo will learn by boxing against his now-scheduled oppoenent for Nov 3rd? I can't see him learning anything.

It's alright. Warren will prove the "naysayers" who are jealous of him wrong, when Enzo beats Darnell Wilson in the biggest British fight of 2008 (be grateful, plebians)!

Personally, I don't think Warren's the top dog in Britain anymore. He's doing well with the Welsh, the Scottish, he has Khan and puts on some above average WBU level fights.

But he doesn't seem to have much going with any of the exciting Manchester fighters, I don't think he has anything/much in Yorkshire, and all the bright English names are with different promoters, IMO.

None. We have about 4 good promoters - Warren, Maloney, Hobson & Hennessey - all of whom have their strengths and weaknesses.

Warren gets by because for long periods he is allowed to call an addled egg a fresh egg and sell it as that. ok, he's putting on a huge show in Nov but this is counterbalanced by all the awful stuff that we have to put up with.

I like Maloney, but think Hobson and Hennessey act like big shots too much and use Warren to hype themselves up at times whnen they pretend they get one over him.

Maloney's honest about his fighters and shows barely any nonsense and has barely criticised any other promoters and just gets on with managing his own.

Warren has done a fair bit of calling Hennassy out too including the now infamouse Warren Smokes Hennassy's boots press relece.

Hennessy has two good and possibly marketable fighters and a few brit and maybe European Level which for someone who has been going since 2002 isn't so bad (btw does anyone know if Hennessy started out in unlicensed boxing as allegedly did [I think that he has admited that but if not I appoligise frank have a go at suing me I have an ex who is a barrister now :-P]). I am not sure what I think about some of his fighters though like Walker, he could have got badly hurt when he was put in a fight he didn't have a chance of winning (if he was with Warren he would have been protected to the WBU title and made more money).

Maloney does a good line in "Honnest Pro's" also has Haye. Seems a genuin guy and a good promoter particularly York Hall type shows, Eugean Maloney promotes a few boxers too righ. Also took a lot of gambels on lewis which payed off well.

Hobson should have done a better job on Clinton Woods but seemed to loose sight of a fighter he had took all the way up because he was all excited about having Hatton, all though major peeps to him for making the Castillo fight and 2 world title fights in the USA.

Warren is a good promoter particularly for making fighters money, however he makes a lot of missmatches sometimes cynicaly. That I think is bad for the sport sometimes.

Only because Hennessey thinks he can smoke Warren. Hennessey needs Warren's name to boost his own ego.

Opponents wise, even though he brings over mismatches, It's Frank who delivers the best opponents still.

Hennessey;s only world class fighter Is Witter who Is my second favourite fighter.

But Froch has only won two domestic belts and thought he had the right to call out Kessler or Calzaghe even when he only just beat Hague. His power comes from his flat footed hands down style and has to take the shots to give the shots. He's going to get stopped eventually. Plus he's struggled and being out boxed by domestic and commonwealth fighters while on the way up.

Hennessey has got the best English talent. I don't think Froch will win a world title belt in this era but he can give a good account of himself. Hennessey has put on strong domestic bouts (Thaxton British reign, a terrific little story), is bringing Romanov over for one of the UK lightweights, has Barker and Murray and looks like he may be part of this UK vs Mexico show the night before Hatton-Floyd. If it goes ahead it looks like Hennessey will put some of his most promising fighters in these matches. Warren didn't exactly put his best in the Contender Challenge did he? Also, Barker's having a Commonwealth title fight already, & Murray's been fighting in America. Biggest probem with Hennessey is that he can develop guys slowly.

Frank is the man who puts on the massive shows - Hatton-Tszyu, Calzaghe-Lacy, Calzaghe-Manfredo, Calzaghe-Kessler - and he has Khan, a very big name, but he also puts on the vilest of mismatches and makes silly fights for the WBO. He's doing very well with the Welsh but seems hermit-like as ever, guarding what he has judiciously and still doing the ol' last minute opponent switch etc. The British fights he puts on are OK but honestly his Scousers and Scots are a bit dull. He also raely puts his fighters in with those of rival domestic promoters. But he has vowed to put his top feathers and super feathers in fights together, so we will hopefully see the likes of Arthur, Cookie, Mitchell, Foster Jr, Mathews, Simpson & more in domestic dust ups. Some of these are almost lightweights so Khan will figure too (Earl is a decent start).

The Manc fighters are the most exciting (not necessarily the best) in the country. Warren built up Hatton, Gomez, Farnell etc but now he has none of these guys or the next wave of top Mancs, at least to my knowledge.

Hobson is doing refreshing work with his Setanta deal with Irish fights and did damn well to get Woods his last title crack. They are getting bogged down by the IBF now, and Hobson doesn't seem to put a lot of shows on. But it's great that he's having a piece of a foreign exciting talent (Kiko). Also, credit him for taking Hatton to America. Ricky has now found his form on US soil after two shaky starts and is a better man for it.

Maloney also puts on strong domestic fare - Johanesson v Gomez anyone? - and often puts on what look to be 50-50 fights. This is good. He's also taking Haye to a shot at the main cruiserweight title (while Macca is mismanaged), bringing Haye along the Lennox Lewis path (heavyweight title) having already put him in with a heavyweight. The weaker point with Maloney is that he tends to sideline foreign talent, though Olusegun & Munyai did not help themselves last time out one bit.

I find some of the Manc fighters lacking defence and reliant on stamina and strength. Some are flat footed too.

What Scousers are dull? I know I'm one but I think Derry has potential to do well.Derry uses his height and reach advantage well. Smith I think will win a British title, plus he Ko's fighters with demon like Intention. :o

Well Frank already made Matthews Vs Foster Jr and Simpson fought both of them. :TU:
is bringing Romanov over for one of the UK lightweights
Meager will get destroyed though, at least Warren puts them In with good fighters If they've shown to be good enough. :-?
