Any NY Hotels that you recommend?

I think there was a thread on this a couple of months back, but can't find it.

I'm working in Philly from 12th November so thinking of going to New York first to watch Cotto v Mosley, but don't know which hotel to stay at.

Anything from 3 stars up would really help.

Just checked and their rooms are sold out. Any other recommendations. Should only be a taxi ride from MSG.

The Edison has been booked up for a while now, i had some clients who went to the last Cotto fight asked to return there.

I've had a little look around and there's not much availability. You can still get a room at the Holiday Inn by Madison Square Garden or the Paramount which is very good at Times Square.

I'll email you about the ticket later

Gansevoort Hotel. V trendy. REally cool pool at top. Nice bar, sexy girls. In the meat packing district.

The Howard Johnson on 8th Ave is not that far from the Garden, 15 mins walk or so. Worth checking that out.

Hotel Pennsylvania is directly over the road from the garden, ideal. The "cheaper" rooms can be a little bit basic but will still be a bit pricey, provided you can get booked on a big fight weekend. I've always preffered the Howard Johnson either at Newark Airport or New Brunswick, cheap, top notch eating and great rooms with loads of cable channels and bargain price and only a cheap train ride away from NYC (And penn station is right under the garden)

That's where I stayed. Penn Hotel....

Did the job for me - mind you I was there for 3 niths and probably only spent 12-14 hours in the room, sleeping. I was so hyped to be int he big apple I was going to bed in the early hours and was up at 6am to get right back out into the city!!

You couldn't get any closer to the garden, and that's a big plus for fight night, surely!

Try the Comfort Inn at 45 35th St. 01-(212) 947-0200 between 5th Ave & Broadway.

A few blocks from MSG and moderatly priced (for NYC).

Of course you could rent my office. I'll price it out for you. It's at 11 Penn Plaza. About 100 yards from the MSG entrance. (Hope u don't mind the activity during working hours -- and the desk will be tuff sleeping.

Thing is, I've noticed that even cheap American hotels are more than comfortable enough. I stayed in a Holiday Inn in L.A, and it was more than fine.
