COLIN KENNA has turned down the offer of a big-money showdown with British heavyweight champion Danny Williams.
The Southampton fighter was offered the fight yesterday on the undercard of Ricky Hatton's 'world' title bout in Manchester tomorrow night.
The fight would have been over six rounds.
But Kenna has only recently returned to full training and his camp have opted to stick with their plan of fighting Nottingham's Brodie Pearmaine at Reading's Rivermead Leaisure Centre on January 16.
Manager Jack Bishop said: "We had no intention of taking the fight with Danny Williams, even with the money there was being offered.
"I spoke to Colin about it and he is certainly not frightened of Williams - but he wants to be 100 per cent fit for a fight like that and he must take it at the right time."

Yes, I noticed that earlier, Kev. I really doubt he'll be fighting now.Kevin wrote:Williams isn't even listed on the shedule at allegedly.tv

I doubt very much Ralf Packheiser would be interested in coming over to fight Danny after the way he's been mucked about on the two previous occasions they were scheduled to meet. It wouldn't surprise me in fact if Packheiser has a new opponent lined up on the Ottke-Reid bill tomorrow.Freiheit wrote:What about the german he was surposed to fight in Germany?
