What is King doing with the Haye-Mormeck TV?

Is it normal not to sell the rights to anyone by now when Brits are begging to see this 1? What the heck is he up to? I have a bad feeling that none of us are going to see this one unless we attend the bout. We're less than 2 weeks away ffs.

Our own Ian McNeilly reported the other day that Don had offered the fight to Sky and Setanta, but no takers yet:

Christ knows how much Don is asking for the rights, if this is the case. Although it must be said that Saturday night boxing doesn't really seem to fit Sky's schedule these days.

If we don't get to see Haye-Mormeck on TV, it will be a real shame. This has the making's of being a real entertaining fight, so to let it just go by the wayside with no television coverage is not very pleasing for us fans!
We all know what King is like with his haggling/negotiation tactics. Don don't give shit away for shit, but I guess in today's world, one can't blame him!
I for one hope the bout's on Setanta/Sky as I'm a big Haye fan. I really think Haye will TKO Mormeck, then move up to HW, where he may become a better fighter.
I like Haye, I think he's good for boxing, has a good appeal about him etc.

It's a question of holding our breath and see if any last minute agreements can be struck up.
Don't be surprised if King is charging too much. Missing out on live coverage will be a big blow, but maybe a TV channel can pick up delayed coverage at a cheaper price....better than nothing.
Sometimes Radio 5 gets some big boxing shows....keep them peeled!

I was told Radio 5 will be in attendance...let's hope so. Another Parisian jolly for our BBC pals!THEBUTCH wrote:It's a question of holding our breath and see if any last minute agreements can be struck up.

What's the crack here then??
If it wasn't for laws of defamation, there is so much I would like to put up on BBN (and have wanted to since I posted the other story a little while back).
This is not a good sign. Hope it's some web problem and not what I think.

Sky no longer deal with King and do not want boxing on Saturday. ITV rejected the fight, and BBC don't care. Not sure why Setanta not in there .... must be cash. Sad that we wind up as the losers.Lenny wrote:I can't believe radio 5 is the best we're gonna get? Yes, but if Setanta put it on and asked y'all to fork out to pay it, there'd be uproar on here and half the board refusing to pay 'on principle'.The Blade wrote:Sky no longer deal with King and do not want boxing on Saturday. Boxing ain't on TV because boxing fans are all willing to kick up a fuss about getting more on TV, but very few are willing to actually pay for it.
Put it on Setanta and charge a tenner for it. And then you'll see that 48 people buy it and realise why Setanta et al don't take a punt on these fights.
Setanta already have Cotto Mosley the same night.
As Setanta's business model is pay-per-month, when they have JC - Kessler and Cotto-Mosley already signed up for November, how many additional subscribers (for Nov) would the Haye fight bring?
My guess is not many because if you're a boxing fan the two they already have will have brought you through the door already.

Maybe Eurosport will show it in about 3 months' time. Bloody sad. You'd think between the 50 quid a month we pay for Sky and Setanta and the 100+ quid BBC licence fee, someone would show one of this year's biggest fights involving a British fighter. I was really looking forward to a fantastic run from November 3rd to December 8th. F***ing disgraceful.

Yes, but not just for boxing. For football, cricket, super league, guiness premiership rugby and all those other things you can only get on sky.Terry D wrote:Bollocks, I bet most on here put money into Sky and Setanta on a month-by-month basis.Carbo wrote:Yes, but if Setanta put it on and asked y'all to fork out to pay it, there'd be uproar on here and half the board refusing to pay 'on principle'.The Blade wrote: Sky no longer deal with King and do not want boxing on Saturday. Boxing doesn't pull in the sponsors like football, it doesn't have a huge fan base, and the big fights are occassional and cost a fortune.
Yet few, even on a message board filled with hard core boxing fan types are willing to pay to watch. That's why nobody'll take a punt on it.

Yes, we definetly get a bum deal.
As well as paying license fee, we pay Sky subscriptions, and if we want to get all the international and domestic action, Setanta as well. That's a lot of coin spent every single year.
I was spending nigh on 50 quid a month with Sky and Setanta combined, which is ludicrous. Most of the channels I get are bilge, and I only get sky so I can watch the boxing when it's on.

I don't like downloading fights off the net, I prefer to pay for the official broadcast, but it looks like my hand is being forced
