Crystal Ball prediction - Tarver vs Green

Post by jezzamundo »

Green enters the ring looking excited, a little nervous, and in great shape as "I come from a land down under" plays.
Tarver enters to the usual rap music, looking quite calm and confident, but quite skinny as he usually does on fight day.

Round 1
A battle of the jabs, as Green's shorter, harder jab lands more frequently than Tarver's longer right jab. There is a clash of heads as the fighters clinch late in the round, but no damage is done. Tarver lands a long straight left but Green wears it well, and responds with a firm left hook to Tarver's jaw.
10-9 Green

Round 2
Tarver is starting to counter Green's jab well, and has Green missing with right hands on a couple of occasions. Mid round, Tarver lands a straight left that bloodies Green's nose, and follows up with a sharp left to Green's ribcage. Clear Tarver round.
19-19

Round 3
Another clear Tarver round, with Green having trouble landing anything but his jab. Not a lot of action, but Tarver routinely lands glancing blows to Green's head, although there is not yet any signs of swelling or cuts.
29-28 Tarver

Round 4
Tarver took the first half of the round, as he continued to make Green miss while landing half his own punches. Just before the 2 minute mark, Green lands flush with a left hook that has Tarver backing up, he then follows up with a big straight right that has Tarver on shaky legs, backing into the ropes. Green is all over Tarver, landing blows to his body and head as Tarver covers up and the bell rings to end a Green round.
38-38

Round 5
Green appears to be somewhat arm-weary from the previous round, and Tarver takes advantage, but hitting home with looping body body punches as well as another big straight left that shakes Danny's legs. Green has moments, landing a glancing left hook and a few stiff jabs late in the round.
48-47 Tarver

Round 6
The action continues from round 5, with Tarver getting the better of exchanges. Green misses with a big left hook and Tarver counters with a huge left rip to the ribs that doubles Green up. Taking his opportunity, Tarver lands a double jab and follows up with a huge straight left to Green's chin that buckles Danny's legs as he is forced to take a knee. Green is up at the count of 7, and stands his ground for the rest of the round, although on the defensive.
58-55 Tarver

Round 7
Tarver is looking to finish the fight, but is clearly tired from his round 7 efforts. As Tarver goes to clinch, Green lands a flush left hook, and follows up with a powerful short right hand to Tarver's mouth that sends him stumbling onto his backside. Green seems full of energy and he backs Tarver up with hard jabs to the chin. Tarver clinches again, and Green hits him with a series of hard overhand rights that shake Tarver's still unsteady legs. Just as Tarver is looking to go down again, he lands another big straight left that lands flush, leaving Green also on unsteady legs. With the crowd roaring and both men hurt, Green, who looks the fresher fighter, has Tarver backing up, and lands a huge straight right that sends the veteran fighter falling into the ropes and onto the canvas as the bell rings. Tarver struggles, gets to his feet at the count of 9 and wobbles into the ropes as the referee waves off the contest. Green wins KO7!

Green is engulfed by his team and jumps onto the ropes beating his chest to a great roar from the crowd. Bring on Clinton Woods or Stipe Drews!

Just a little day-dream I had.

I agree, possible, but not exactly probable. It's not my prediction, just a little something I thought up.

I am truly 50:50 on this fight. I think a lot depends on just how good (or bad) Elvir Muriqui is, seeing as he lost a close decision to Tarver in his last fight. Tarver deserves to come in as favourite though.

One wonders whether Green has to KO Tarver to win the fight, because if the fight is close it will probably go to Tarver, and I have trouble seeing Green outbox Tarver over 12 rounds. Neither man has been knocked out, but both are KO punchers. Both big LHW fighters, one orthodox, one southpaw, one A level fighter past his best, one B level fighter having a second peak in a new weight division. Very interesting matchup!

Nice write up mate. :TU: I notice you have Green's left hook as a dominate punch throughout the fight, I think if he wants to do some real damage he will have to consistantly land the straight right hand. It is usually the money punch against south paws and if he can get it going I reckon it could give Tarver a world of trouble...

He knows how to fight a lefty, thats why he is referring to the left hook, as what mot people do not take into account is a right right hand aganst a southpaw leaves you open for their straigjt left. Its a 50/50 shot either you ht him good or hr hits you good.
If you go outside thejab with a hook you can hit without being hit in return

Very true, I know I don't know as much about the fight game as you, but with Tarver I think Green needs to worry about getting his shots in first, if he can land the straight right it will put him in good stead. Tarver is more open to the right hand and Green can put the power behind it to trouble him. Green is going to wear a few shots either way so why not do some damage in the process. A saftey first approach where Green worries too much about getting hit is not going to win him this fight. If he gets tarver thinking about the right it will also open him up for the left hook. In short I think putting together a good one two is one of the keys for Green in this fight.

Just my $0.02.

Looks like my prediction is WAY off, I even got the opponent wrong!

I've only sparred with a southpaw once, but I actually quite liked it, as my left hook is probably my best punch and I landed it quite regularly. My straight right is a slightly more powerful punch, but I've never really landed it properly as my handspeed is not great.
