New AIBA logo and name

Post by JMac »

The new logo is out. You can see it on the Chicago world championships page with the programs. It will take some time for it to grow on me. The name is officially changed to International Boxing Association but it kept AIBA in it's logo instead of IBA. Evedently, IBA is copyrighted by someone else. I don't like the badges the officials are wearing. I think the old ones looked better.
What do you all think?

I'm not sure what to think other than I see big changes on the horizon. IBA removing "amateur" from their official name and getting involved in pro boxing is going to change a lot of the rules over the next few years (maybe it will take 5-10 years). I'm assuming that eventually the line between pro and amateur will be very blurred.

I'm not pleased with any of the so-far-announced changes involving the new "boxing league." I think we will lose the sport of amateur boxing as we now know it and I have no desire to get involved with the pros. I don't think Wu has any understanding of the cut throat world of pro boxing. Maybe he's counting on Suliman to pave the road, but I wouldn't count on that, either. "IBA" is already a pro boxing organization, that's why it can't be used.

Can you imagine what our one and only insurance company is going to say if the headgear gets tossed out? There had better be absolute proof that it is safe to box without it. Gawd - think of the cuts, perforated ear drums and cauliflower ears!
