Same here.

He mocked Snipes who stuck it out despite taking a pasting and yet he caved in as soon as the slightest bit if adversity came his way later on in his career.

Total bully.

Yeah I remember this, Snipes never fought again which was a shame to have that as your last fight.

Rememeber the press conference for Bowe vs. Gonzalez, they hated each other with a plastic screen seperating them. Anyone know the history between them?

Didn't Gonzalez beat Bowe as an amateur? probably that.

I think Bowe had chinned his previous opponent at a press conference too. Can't remember his name. I think he was unbeaten at the time but he couldn't punch.

The glass divide thing was a publicity stunt really, a good one though.

Yeah Bowe and his loose cannon manager were always a bit volatile, there was Bowe calling Lewis a faggot at a press conf as well, plus his manager jumping into the ring and wrestling a Bowe opponent over the top rope. Nut case.

Rock Newman was his name - A bit of a character, and he did a lot for Bowe and his career.

Bowe was so overated in the day, he beat up on a lot of fighters who shouldn't have been in the ring with him, and ran like a chicken rather than fight Lewis.

It always surprised me that Bowe didn't want to fight Lewis, after all Bowe had come through some tough fights with Holyfield, and Lewis had shown that he could be KO'd by McCall.

On the night, if they were both in their prime it would be a 50/50 fight.

I could have swore they were down to fight at some point. I seem to remember Bowe having to apologise to the WBC for the trash can thing in order to get it signed.
Wasn't it set for after the Mccall fight if Lewis had won?
Am I making this up?

I think they both made it difficult, don't think it was just Bowe. I think neither of them was that Keen. They were down to fight I think before Lewis lost to McCall, and Bowe was without a title, but Lewis wrangled for ages over the money for the fight, and then when he got beat Bowe made him pay by pissing him around and not giving him the fight.

I always thought Bowe had the tools to beat Lewis, especially the one who lost to McCall, a big rawboned heavyweight with good hands and excellent infighting skills, and especially, a big straight and hard jab, something which could be used against Lewis who relied on his jab a lot.

Lewis was an intimidating type who had Bowe's number mentally.

I think they were looking at Bowe facing Lewis after he beat Holyfield 3rd time out but then he took a beating from Golota.

I also stayed up late to watch Bowe-Holy 2. Think Jones & Hopkins fought a stinker on the undercard?

Autumn 95 stands out as a high point for me. As mentioned, Robinson-Naz & Bruno-McCall, Eubank-Collins, followed closely by Bowe-Holy 3. Great days...
