bobby frankham fracas

Post by harrygreb »

just been looking through some old videos out of the loft not expecting to find anything to do with boxing when a news item came up about trouble at a british venue after a boxer named bobby frankham was in a bit of hot water. the item was cut off after a few seconds. who knows what went on?
is b.frankham related to johnny by any chance!!!!

Bobby got banned for life for striking the ref after getting stopped in the 1st by Billy Sim. It was a slightly early stoppage if memory serves me right.
One of those that the losing boxer is recovered straight away, Bobby lost his rag a punched out, not a full bloodied punch , but deliberate.

From what I remember, he was a gypsy who had a load of supporters there, couldn't take being shown up and went mental when he was stopped.

It was indeed Richie. And it was nasty for a few minutes at ringside. Bobby helped Brad Pitt with that boxing movie methinks;'

Yep, another of the famous fighting family. I remember from the clips he looked out on his feet when Davies stopped it, but like Ian says, it was all about losing face in front of his family and friends.

were you ringside, blade? from the clip on my old video i saw frankham trying to get at sim with davies and a second standing in his way, frankham looked like he wanted to have a proper ruck with the guy who'd just put him down for a count and eventually stopped him. foolish behaviour by the gypsy pug but the crowd went a bit ape. then it switched to john morris of the board of control saying "what a disgrace...bad for boxing...blah blah"
was it all a storm in a teacup or was it a serious incident. we've all seen a bit of trouble at a bout, was this any worse?

Gypsy Johnny Frankham is Bobby's uncle. Both men have crossed the line and I won't go there, but here is a shot of the gifted Johnny in better days:
