I'd guess Howard, it will be a good indicator to see if Duddy is the real deal, Eastman is a reasonable enough gatekeeper to world class, even in light of the Elcock result

Seems a risky assigmnment to me, with a Pavlik fight looking fairly close.

That old dog Eastman could teach the young pretender a few tricks yet I would have thought..

Good luck to Duddy though - it certainly makes up for the Prince Aaron debacle! :TU:

Anyone think there's any danger of Eastman just going into "opponent" mode now, and cashing in as a good name by fighting up and comers before he retires?

Was about to say the same Eddie. After Elcock's win Duddy's people have all of the sudden gotten very brave.

Yes, very much so he wasn't the most motivated of chaps when hoping for world title fights now that hope has pretty much gone I don't think he'll be very motivated. Although I live in hope that pride may mean he comes into this one motivated and hoping for an elock rematch.

Wow! Looking forward to this bill already. Eastman is a lot better opponent than i had ever dreamed of. After Arron i expected a proper fall over job but Eastman is a great choice.

Christ almighty, Howards really falling down the slope fast isn't he? Just turning into an opponent for big names on the way up, but I do wonder whether he might spring a surprise here. He was possibly not that motivated for Elcock, no offence to Wayne, but Howard probably thought it a walk in the park, he doesn't expect to lose at British Level.

Duddy still has plenty of flaws, and who knows, maybe Eastman will see this as a big opportunity.

Here's a little insight into why Howard Eastman was chosn.

I saw Eastman at the Miranda fight and noticed a flaw in his style that would be relatively easy for Duddy to capitalize on. He moved up in my mind as a potential opponent. One of the things I like about successful veteran fighters is that they are very good at teaching their opponents new traps and tricks. That was the reasoning behind the Campas fight and why Eastman was valuable to us. What wasn't anticipated with Campas was the motivation that John's popularity afforded Yory Boy. He was really fired up.

The original opponent was Evans Ashira who beat Eastman. In watching that tape, I also noticed that Eastman was in opponent mode and that Ashira was quite beatable. But the "Campas Factor" stayed in the back of my mind. Would we be missing a good "lesson fight" and would Eastman be fired up? I opted for Ashira. When Ashira came up with an injury, I figured the Eastman fight was the next best alternative even though it'll be a night filled with antacids.

I hope that at the end of the evening I'll be thanking Jermaine Taylor for using his rematch clause and giving Duddy the time to put in some college classes with Proff. Eastman before the Pavlik event.

I'm glad Eastman was picked over Ashira, I think Eastman will provide a better test for Duddy and will be up for this fight. Also I'm sure from a selling point of view Eastman against Duddy is a better fight for tickets than Ashira would be? ....my thinking anyway.

Also Eastman is very strong and has faced some very top level Middleweights which will be a good measuring stick for how Duddy will deal with him. Miranda was the only fighter to have stopped Eastman, so if Duddy could stop him that would be something.

From my point of view, I much prefer to see Eastman fight Duddy in Dec than Ashira, pleased to hear its on! :TU:

Think you're right here DG - understand why Duddy's camp is taking the match, but think he's too 'green' for this and Eastman still has enough left in the tank to exploit his flaws. Eastman by stoppage in the later rounds for me....

Big step up for Duddy imo. Despite Howard losing to Elcock last month, he will be by far the sternest test to date for Duddy.

I pick Duddy by UD.

Depends how motivated Howard comes in, will he be looking to give a good account of himself after sleepwalking to defeat against Elcock? I think with his experience and skill he could old man Duddy out of it but the safe bet sees Duddy looking too fresh and mobile for old boy Eastman.

I think Duddy's struggle with Campas puts his future into perspective. Duddy UD12 Eastman. Hoping to be there :TU:

Interesting prospectives. My take on it is that Duddy will take the 1st and 2nd rounds, Eastman will grab 3,4 and 5, with Duddy's work rate taking 6-10. Duddy 7-3. Expect 2 cast iron chins to have a "down in the trenches" battle with the younger guy dominating.

If I'm right, I go on making a living. If I'm wrong, I join you boys in your armchairs - but with no income! I've been right 22 times so far.

Fair do's to Duddy, he doesn't need this one. I thought with his fighting style and popularity state side he could have got a shot just fighting the names he's been fighting.

This will give us at least some indication if he can fight his style at world level.
