WBA MISS OPPORTUNITY OF A LIFETIME!!!!

Post by Grant »

With the greatest athlete Australia has ever seen having a possible career ending injury the WBA missed an opportunity to have a 'interim' title fight.
That way they could have a real champ (kessler) a 'world' champion (Mundine) and an 'interim' champion (?????) all at the same time.

Better than that:

Match the top two available contenders for Mundine's "regular" title, and make Mundine "champion emeritus" until he gets better. Then also find a reason for an interim champion. Then we can have FOUR WBA 168lb champs!

If the fighters in question then fought each other would it be called a unification bout?

How could Mundine be an "Emeritus" champion? Even if he is he retiring he is rated below Kessler.

The whole thing is a massive gee up mate, besides it is obvious that Mundine would be the 'regular emeritus champion' where as Kessler would be the 'super emeritus champion'...

Hasim Rahman used to bill himself as the "undisputed WBC champion" after Klitschko retired. You know things are bad when you have to unify ONE title, never mind three or four!

According to the Sydney Morning Herald of November 1 Anthony has been back in training for three weeks hopefully to fight the winner of the Kessler Calzaghe fight . His bicep injury has healed but he is still experiencing vision problems. There is also talk of a Mundine / Green rematch, but I think Danny would insist it be at Light Heavyweight.

It would have to be at light heavy. I can't see Green going back down below that. If Green can win a legitimate Light heavy title it could come off. I'm still not so sure though...

Clavero? I could understand Mundine fighting him as a warm up fight after a period of inactivity, but for this to be a World Title defence is ridiculous! This is either a mistake or a disgrace.

LOL! That is the bloke Sam Soliman KO'd a few years ago. He also has a draw with another of Mundine's "challengers" Ruben Acosta.

Mundine is sticking to his famed level of competition :TU:

This is getting ridiculous. When is Mundine going to wake up and realize that if he wants to be remembered as a legitimate champion he has a few short years to make it happen. There are a lot of good fights to be had in the SMW division yet he insists on fighting these bums. I mean a bloke that has won 2 of his last 7 is fighting for the title? I could close my eyes, throw a rock at the top 50 in the SMW division and find a better fight.

What are you insinuating mistake or disgrace????
There is nothing in boxing ever that is a MISTAKE
And how can you whine that a fight for a world title is ridiculous when we have had world title fights in this country at knox netball centre and doncaster shopping town
as for using the word disgrace in a boxing forum I have asked the moderators to ban you for a period of 6 months followed by lethal injection
shame on you
