What is King doing with the Haye-Mormeck TV?

I want to see this fight as much as anyone, but we don't know the details so there's not much point crying about it and blaming the TV stations.

The fact is Don King paid for the right to stage this fight. That means its his perogative to sell it or not to whoever. He owns the product because he paid for it.

It's not neccessarily Sky's fault and I'm sure they want to screen it. If the rights had been won by Maloney you can be sure it'd be on Sky.

 Hardly, I'm a pacifist! I've been drinking round the local towns since about 1991 and I've never been involved in a fight. However I'm gonna make a BIG fcuking exception and batter Sky, Don King and Setanta for not picking this one up (coonts)

I don't like downloading fights off the net, I prefer to pay for the official broadcast, but it looks like my hand is being forced

Your Seethingly

Chambers
Just ponce it off the 'net :TU:
Yeah I will do, still racked off though its never the same watching it by yourself on a laptop with French/German/Yank commentary.

I'm that pissed off I nearly got off me settee and bought a Eurostar ticket, but then I thought fcuk it and skinned up

King is apparently a complete bastard to deal with, and Sky have gotten fed up with his ludricrous demands. What about Kingvision? I seem to recall Don doing his own telecasts in the not so distant past, with one of the cable companies carrying it and taking a cut of the PPV?

What's the crack here then??
F*ck.

If it wasn't for laws of defamation, there is so much I would like to put up on BBN (and have wanted to since I posted the other story a little while back).

This is not a good sign. Hope it's some web problem and not what I think.
My tickets should be delivered tomorrow and i've picked up a bunch of spares for those who don't want the Eurostar package i'm doing.
When the promoter told me that they weren't anymore available but it's possible that some are being held back for sale on the door.
If anyone's stuck pm me.

As Setanta's business model is pay-per-month, when they have JC - Kessler and Cotto-Mosley already signed up for November, how many additional subscribers (for Nov) would the Haye fight bring?

My guess is not many because if you're a boxing fan the two they already have will have brought you through the door already.
Kessler-Calzaghe and Cotto-Mosley persuaded me to buy a new Freeview box and subscribe to Setanta. Wouldn't swap it for SKY either i don't think if offered.

I spoke to a Sky commentator tonight who said they where 99.9% out of the running at this stage as King is asking a fortune for TV rights.

But he also said that this has happened in the past with Don King and 1 week before the fight if he gets no takers at the price he is after he will drop his asking price substantially.

Anyone know if King has had options on Haye now? I believe being mandatory options are not usually allowed (or certainly not forced) - just wondering if King has got something up his sleeve and if Haye wins could that mean the we have seen the last of him fight on UKTV.

Sorry for the pessamistic view, but this whole shananegans hasn't been good. Everything has been on and off etc. I was looking forward to a trip - but I wasn't going to book untill everything was sorted but there is no way I can get time off etc now.

If this problem has been related to King, could this continue if King has options should Haye win.

I think because they went the mandatory route this is probably why the fight's taken so long.

Don King has been in boxing, as far as I can remember, since the Ali days - He must have more money than any boxer/ex boxer alive today so why as an old man does he want even more - Cant see Sky making a last minute deal with him myself.

Sky have done last minute deals with King in the past. I can't see them passing this one up they're probably holding until he lowers the price.

Sky have really given Haye the big buildup.

Yes it's great that they are streaming Calzaghe-Kessler.

ONE BIG PROBLEM, you can't see it in the UK or the US!, now how do you change your IP so it thinks your in Australia! :-)

But, nickd, it's on a Saturday night and when was the last time we got saturday night boxing on Sky that wasn't PPV ?

At this stage I'll be happy if Sky show a recording...or anyone for that matter. Kudos to those packing their bags and heading to France for this one. You should be rewarded with a cracking fight.

Is it even on in the states? I'll be in NY for Cotto Mosley and this would be a terrific warm up

Likewise. Is King still holding out?

Anyone know if he's sold the TV rights to anyone outside the UK?

Next week Sky Sports are showing a Wednesday slot - Barker Commonwealth etc. Maybe Fri 16th, which has no boxing set, we'll get delayed coverage of Haye-Mormeck. Hope so.
