Couldn't have said better myself rhino. Me and Oliver will do all our work properly, don't you worry about that. Oliver will be with me in plenty of time before the opening bell.rhino222 wrote:boxing is a business.... money talks, championship bouts dont come around too often, good for mooresey, the trainers and the promoters need to get their heads together, let the fighters do the fighting.
Jamie Moore fights for European Title December 8th...
I'll have the DVD recorder going in one room and the video in another. I won't know what to watch live if Sky clashes with ITV which it almost certainly will! You're right about the delayed coverage. I hope it's extensive by both Sky and Setanta.Autobarn wrote:I think Ben was just getting at the idea that it was stretching it a bit. And now it seems that there's about 5 big British fights on the same day, which hints that armchair fans will miss at least 3 of these fights! Moore's EBU challenge, Khan-Earl, Duddy-Eastman, Abraham-Elcock, Hatton-Mayflower.
Hopefully Sky will do some SERIOUS delayed coverage. I'll be curious what Setanta will do.

Why because I express an opinion neither of you agree with? Well done for delivering Moore a title shot, it's about time chaps, but your choice of date is moronic and you both know you're taking an unncessary risk with Harrison also preparing Amir Khan for Graham Earl.STEVE WOOD wrote:Ben,

I will not be getting involved anymore in this debate ,but would confirm that Jamie Moore was involved in every stage of this deal and is doing cartwheeels about this fight and the date.

Perhaps either you or Baloney can tell me why this makes sense on Dec 8? Some of the posters don't care, they just want their boxing fill on television on Dec 8, do Maloney and Wood care or are they just interested in filling a SKY date and a pre Christmas earner.
I'd like to finish by wishing Jamie well, I hope he wins and he's one of my favourite boxers. Quite why I deserve to be ridiculed for expressing my concerns about Moore is beyond me but is typical of British Boxing.

bloody hell ben, thats a bit harsh.....the word moronic is a bit insultive.Ben Carey wrote:Why because I express an opinion neither of you agree with? we are boxing fans, shit, lets not complain !!
oliver harrisson will have no problem training both fellas, fighters only really train a few hours a day, a motivated fighter will not need oliver harisson with them when they go running etc, oliver should look after all of the gymnasium based stuff, thats what he does best.
as for the dates and times of the contests, unfortunately a lot of it is about windows in viewing schedules. december is quite a busy month for tv for obvious reasons.
lets just celebrate the fact that the fights are happening.
not ideal.........perhaps.
moronic......defintely not !!

I see Ben's point. But I just think there comes a time when you have to accept what you're given.
Would we be criticising Jamie if he didn't take the fight because 'Oliver will be rushing' and then the Eurpean champion fought Bradley Pryce instead and Pryce won?
Mooresy is happy, I'm happy. I just hope he's not jaded for the fight. He looked bored an unmotivated versus Facey.

Storm in a teacup, I can't see any problem.
Oliver will be in the corner for both fights and I can't see how it will effect their training, surely hes had 2 fighters training for fights at the same time before. Jamie might have to warm up with someone else on the pads prior to his fight, but Jamies been in the game long enough not to let a minor detail like that affect him.
What a night its going to be
Anyone seen Jamies opponent in action? Just noticed that boxrecs got him down as fighting Roman Dzuman on Nov 17th, is that right? Have I got the right bloke? I'm mildly confused

I feel I have to break my rule on commenting about postings since my last run in with Ben Carey but I see Ben has learned nothing about the boxing business in all his time in reporting.Ben Carey wrote:Why because I express an opinion neither of you agree with? Professional Boxing is a business and is dictated by TV companies unfortunately in an ideal world us promoters would like to choose dates and opponents and guarantee our fighters wins every time they step in the ring.
This would be possible if we wanted to serve up crap fights to you the fans and fight for Mickey Mouse titles but unfortunately no matter what a promoter or manager does we can never win as you lot are the experts.
Jamie Moore is the mandatory for the EBU title it does not matter how good or bad the champion is Jamie is the official challenger, by being the official challenger he fights for the title without having to give up any options, it has taken him two years to get to this position.
What would you suggest Ben that Jamie gives up this opportunity of fighting for the title on home ground and if we did not take December 8th date he would have had to wait until sometime next year.
So maybe you would like to explain to fighters that when an opportunity knocks for them to fight for a title and earn a reasonable payday why they should give it up, maybe you would like to give up your job and have no income for a few months.
Unfortunately in today’s climate promoters cannot dictate to TV but all of us try to do the best for the boxers we represent.
Anyway the fighter always has the opportunity to say no and no one holds a gun to his head and he is well aware that he fights for a living, the same way you run your web sites for a living.

Frank Maloney
Thanks for the explanation. Whatever your personal opinion of me (and I can assure you the feeling is mutual, Frank) it doesn’t mean we can’t debate issues sensibly without you having to resort to the standard “you know nothing about boxing” line. I’m not knocking the quality of the fight, it’s a tremendous match-up, and I’d also like to stress that you and Wood consistently stage excellent cards.
However, as a fan of Jamie Moore, I’m simply questioning the timing and am concerned that he may not get the best preparation for the most important contest of his career. Even if Harrison wasn’t needed in Khan’s corner on the same night, the fight will still only be 6 weeks since Moore fought Andrew Facey where he was given a difficult evening. Has the Facey fight sharpened Jamie up or does it suggest he needs a rest? Will he have been in the gym for too long come fight night? The team will no doubt argue the former but I still think staging the fight on Dec 8 is a crazy gamble. Why does it have to be on Dec 8? Your shows have become a regular fixture on SKY so I don’t see why they couldn’t let you stage the fight later in December or early January.
Will Oliver Harrison be able to devote his usual amount of time to Jamie, both in terms of preparation in the gym and studying his opponent so a suitable fight strategy can be devised? Will Oliver be exempt from press conferences and journalist questions in the run-up to Khan-Earl? Are you sure that Oliver can be in 2 places in one evening and that everything will run smoothly? I’m not convinced that you will be able to work something out with allegedly – as you point out, TV call the shots. And why would Warren be interested in doing Jamie Moore or you any favours? He doesn’t promote Jamie and since you and Warren parted company Matt Skelton and Graham Earl have joined Sports Network so forgive me for questioning whether Britain’s leading promoters can work together.
I do take your point that it’s the promoter’s job to deliver and that the decision is then left to the fighter. Jamie’s already indicated that he’s more than happy – fair enough. I genuinely hope it works out for all concerned and that people turn out in droves to support Jamie despite Amir Khan fighting a few miles away. I’m entitled to my opinion though.

So its not a perfect world, I think we knew that anyway - Jamie Moore is happy, Frank Maloney is happy and Oliver Harrison gets to appear on ITV and Sky in one night, is that a first for a trainer, I think so - Frank has given us an honest explanation so lets all shut TFU and enjoy the night, one of the best in the whole of boxings history.

how can anyone think oliver cant cope wit 2 fighters training for big fights at the same time, how many other gyms have a certain coach who has a much larger amount of boxers training for big fights buddy mcgrit or freddie roach for example, we are talking about 2 boxers training at different times simple.
also on the night how many times has a coach had several fighters on the same bill?? fair enough different venues and different bill but will be fine as obviously they will box at different times to give oliver enough time to reach the venue.
This is a top opportunity for both boxers and everyone should sit back and enjoy some great matches i know i cant wait im giddy pissin everywhere
