He does not move off to one side or the other after punching, and this I feel will be pivotal. He might catch Joe with one, but Joe will catch him with two in return.

As for Joe's performance against BIKA, I felt it was a good one, particularly against such a tough and awkward guy like Sakio. I feel Joe boxed well
Hmmmm..... Markus Beyer, an excellent counter-puncher, tried for three runds to get past Kessler's defense and jab, but couldn't -- and when he tried to force it he duly got KOed.

Kessler is not easy to hit. He is no Lacy. Calzaghe must outmaneuvre and wrongfoot Kessler to get inside, something Beyer and even the blistering quick Anthony Mundine could not do.
Beyer was shot to pieces though, he was so tentative and reluctant to come forward. Calzaghe is a hell of a lot quicker and won't be waiting for opportunites.

No doubt this is going to be a hard fight for Joe, win or lose, Kessler is no pushover whatsoever, but I think Joe can rally in the late rounds to take the decision. I think the middle rounds could be very hard fought.
Beyer wasn't "shot to pieces." He still had his WBC title and wasn't far removed from edging Danny Green and outclassing Sheika (something Lacy made hard work of). Beyer had been in 2 terrible follow up fights but Calzaghe has been guilty of this.

Beyer's always cautious and slow early. Kessler took out a very good, southpaw counter puncher in 3 rds which is a good achievement. Calzaghe should have been facing Beyer that night but instead was pissing about banging heads with Bika.

We shall have to agree to disagree. Beyer had looked as fragile as a quails egg for quite some time, except Green wasn't good enough to capitalise on it in the rematch.

One thing is for certain, Calzaghe is a lot better and fresher than Beyer.

Sure. I dont' expect Calzaghe to be KOed in 3.

The point to make was that Kessler isn't easy to hit, as KOArtist seemed to imply.

I respect Kessler, you can't but not to! His record speaks for itself, but he has not faced anyone close to Calzaghe. Mikkel said it's now or never for me, but the fact is, it's now or never for Joe Calzaghe, & that will be the difference!

I expecting & hoping for a sensational fight. With the big crowd giving all they''ve got, I wouldn't be surprised if both figthters lose sight of their game plan at some stage & just goe toe-2-toe.

I waana hear some Enzo Calzaghe motivational talk in the corner. He has me in stiches at times, but tells it like it is!

Come on Joe! :box:

Me too, Calzaghe UD- too fast and too determined :box:

Just watching the weigh in coverage has got me even more up for this.

You can tell these 2 are at the top of their game and both think they are top dog.

Maybe not shot exactly, but Beyer did NOT look like he came to win, he rolled over and handed it like a gift to Kessler.

Kessler seems to be most highly rated for his win over Mundine, but was that such a really great win? Manny Siaca did the same thing.

Despite Mundine's nickname, Kessler is yet to face THE MAN at 168. That happens in around 15 hours time :TU:

The weigh in was excellent. Both Joe and Mikkel looked totally up for it, you could see in Kesslers eyes that he can't wait to get in that ring tonight.

And I love Joes confidence, he knows what he is up against.

Its going to be a great fight and I think Kessler has enough to beat joe possibly by TKO around 11.

if Joe had 5 more world class wins on his record, like Siaca, Mundine, Lucas, Beyer & Andrade, he'd be a lock for the hall of fame.

Your like a broken record mate and your quite boring by now - u flip from giving a balanced view of both fighters to making silly comments. Its clear you favour and prefer Kessler and thats fine, but it is also clear that you have burning issue with Calzaghe. Just enjoy the ficking match mate and acknowledge that this is a unification, the very best at Supermiddle weight.

Maussas been hyping about Kessler for over a year, hes picked him over Calazage with a passion from the start, now the fights here hes finally losing it. Its just too much excitement for him to handle bless him. I think we need to get him on something for his nerves before Mayweather-Hatton or his head may explode

Get some balance. if Joe had faced 5 more world class opponents - something that a world champ should be obliged to do - he would be considered a modern great. Instead, the very able Welshmen goes into the most disappointing, letdown title defenses. If you don't know anything about that you must have serious issues.

I'd say Joe has fought maybe 7 or 8 world class opponents - Eubank, Reid, Woodhall, Brewer, Mitchell (this is the "broken record", with Calzaghe, every time you defend him it's vital to mention Reid, Brewer and fecking Mitchell), Lacy etc - meaning that over 50% of his challengers didn't belong in the ring with him. That is NOT how to behave like a champion. Why do you think so many ppl have an issue with him?

Don't fvcking patronise me. He's had that WBO title and been allowed to fight whomever he wanted no matter how bad they were. Because he beat Eubank and Lacy doesn't make up for it. His last mandatory wasn't even allowed to have his shot. WBO threatened to strip Calzaghe unless he'd fight Inkin and then they change their mind.

Calzaghe's a good fighter, but as the guy in MANHUNTER says, "This has got tostop."

I saw Kessler fights from 2005, recognised him as an excellent talent, and at the same time Calzaghe was "losing it" -his reputation had hit rock bottom. I like MK's style better than Joe and there has been none of the Sports Network garbage with choosing opponents (you shouldn't just be able to pick and choose; there should at least be a decent mandatory in waiting...)

Like the Yanks say, Lacy was made for Joe. Joe's got the fight in his backyard, he's got an Italian judge, but let's see what he can do with an excellent boxer who brings two titles, confidence and ability. My take is it will be a much different story.

Big fights polarise fans. I've chosen my side. Live with it.

Thing was, not many Yanks were saying that before the Lacy fight, nor British fans for that fact. Only after the fight did they say Lacy was made for Joe.

very true, and it was a great performance,, wonderful entertainment

BUT...it's a fact that Warren and his match maker said in the weeks before the fight that "Lacy is just Henry Wharton, isn't he?" As Glyn Leach points out over at ESPN, Wharton being the guy that made Eubank and others look a million dollars.

Calzaghe would destroy all 5 of them and 4 one handed.

And now they're saying Kessler is just another Veit...doubt they really believe that though.

Joe will probably try his usual early blitz, just to see what Kessler is made of. You never know, he could catch the guy cold in frozen Cardiff.
