Anyone else joined Setanta JUST for tonight's fight?

Post by T.M.K »

I gave in and signed-up for one month.....

Bloody TV companies :(

I couldn't help it, 8 quid is still less than a normal PPV though.....

I told my wife: it's okay, i got the boxing tonight for free. i just paid 8 quid and it's all free. She took about 2 seconds to clip me round the head but then kissed me and told me there's no way she's staying-up to keep me company.

Gonna probably cancel around christmas unless they release plans for future good quality US cards for the early part of next year..

said in yesterdays Boxing News 5 pound a month for 3 month then 9.99 a month after that but it ran out at midnight.

I have sky and telephone is with Virgin so from what I can gather that makes it 8 pound a month for me with a tenner connection charge....,I think....

i'm going to try ringing them again shortly and get it switched on for tonight , then Cotto Moseley next week.

i tried earlier today but I got through to New Deli and although it's cliche and normally I can understand them perfectly well, the young indian chap on the line could barely talk English and didn't help that he wouldn't use punctuation when he talked, or stop for air.......all i got was i need to tell u it's bla bla bla bla 9 point 99 (meaning 9.99 for **** sake) with this charge that charge bla bla bla...........i was real disillusioned by the whole affair does it show?

Colin, warning to you and others - Make sure you cancel it, Setanta tell you it's for one month but will keep the service running.

They did it to me when I signed up for Hatton-Castillo, I've been paying ever since because I've been too lazy to cancel and because they had the odd Spurs game on.

And then I knew the Calzaghe fight was coming up so I hung on but I'll be dumping them on Monday!

Yep this plus the Cotto fight of course, bargain price for two quality fights.

But......those b*****ds make it hard for you to get that 5 quid deal - I asked em, and they said that's only if you sign up for 12 months - I said that's wrong, and told him to check with his boss. He came back eventualy and insisted there was no 5 quid three month deal, only 12 months.

So I went for the 3 month deal. But like Goz says, make sure you cancel one month prior or they'll keep it coming till you're in the ground.

It's only a tenner a month I can't see why anyone would only have it for a month it's good value at that price. Tight arses!

oh well i just rang the setanta number again, apparently if you're with Virgin you deal with them not Setanta in new deli.
The office is now closed, please call on Monday......wot a fuckin joke, i thought u could order these bloody things rite up to the last minute, i thought with this kind of big event and the advertising and pushing of the channel that has surrounded it you could ring up and order it quite straight forwardly.
the fight won't take place for another 5 hours an they're shut.
What a fornicating joke.

My sky bill is about 55 quid a month before I factor in the additional setanta tenner.

65 quid makes it £780 per year on TV viewing!

Now, if you are a hermit who never leaves his front room, that might equate to value but I like to get out into the big wide world every once in a while.

I will keep setanta whilst the boxing coverage is up to the quality it currently is - once it drops off I will be cancelling tout de suite!

I subscribed from Cotto-Judah (before Hatton-Castillo). I've just checked my bank statements and, since getting 2 months free after the initial £15 payment, they've been taking 15 quid a month from my account. Anyone else paying 15?

Costs me £15 a month for some reason :(

Also as Terry says, you have to draw a line somwhere. Sure I can afford it but it take my Sky bill up to over £60 a month - then what if another sports channel pop up next year and it's another £10 and then another...

I just got it yesterday for this fight with the fiver a month offer but i didnt see anything that mentioned a 12 month contract.
I just clicked on the link on the setanta site and gave them my bank details and im assuming i'll be charged the ridiculous £10 connection fee plus £5 a month till i cancel.

I paid 15 quid on my credit card for the Hatton fight and got 3 months free. You have to tell them to cancel. I could not understand how I still had it months later until I noticed 15 quid taken off a recent credit card bill.
Saying that it is pretty good. I like the golf and Scottish football as well as the boxing so I have kept it.

Give it time: Hatton vs. Castillo was running quite nicely until the opening bell. :( (The De La Hoya vs. Mayweather feed was pretty stable though, so fingers crossed.)

Guys you are entitled to your monthly subscription they have to change it if you are on a Annual contract - FACT. I changed but have to say it took speaking to the right people - once I did it got changed straight away!!!

Monthly contract of £9.99 per month and I have to say - well well worth it!!!

Manchester City 1 - 0 Sunderland

one of the poorest games ever shown.....by ever, I mean, EVER..............well Setanta's going back at this rate.......and , on top, I missed Doc Martin on ITV.

I know what you're thinking........same as me probably, but that was til I watched it. It's just good don't ask me why.

I'll give em a few more days and check out what's coming up besides Cotto and Moseley.

I was a bit pished the other night and have no idea what the costs were, I just wanted Setanta to get the fight on, to which they duly obliged.

I seem to remember the women on the phone talking about some £20 sign up charge or something, which "I can get back". God knows. It's not a bad channel though and there are bound to be some more can't miss fights coming up in the new year.

I've got a decent deal. With Virgin I get money off Setanta because I have the XL package with Sky Sports. I was paying a lot but I'm not now. I'm a Setanta long timer. From the great start (Cotto-Judah, Hatton-Castillo) through the rough times (Morales-Diaz aspect ratio problems) through the regular good stuff (minus tech problems) from both sides of the globe.

Having Setanta, Sky Sports, Eurosport and obviously ITV, there's always some boxing on.
