British heavyweight bonanza confirmed...

Post by bennie »

Danny Williams defends his British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles in a mandatory rematch with Michael Sprott on January 24 at the Wembley Conference Centre. On the same bill, Matt Skelton defends his English heavyweight title against Julius Francis. Should be some night.

Fantastic. Am I alone in thinking that Matt Skelton could beat Sprott, Francis and Williams??

Oy Mr lightsoot - weren't you the one spreading rumours that Skelton got kayoed from a body shot in sparring? If so when exactly did you leap onto the bandwagon?

I reckon I might pop along to the conference centre, can't beat your heavyweight double headers. Although can you imagine old Julius taking Christmas off for this one? Nah me neither.

Blimey, when you look at it, Julius has had some tough fights in the last year and I think getting starched by Oleg Maskaev would be a good time to step off for Jules, but there you go. Good fight for Skelton, who's getting the build-up and I think he'll walk through Julius. However, I'm not sold on him. Big and strong but not that skillful from what I've seen.

Damn you Kilburn  Yeah, I heard that Skelton was done with a body shot from Sprott but I can't fail to be impressed with Big Matt. He's done everything asked of him and come through his "tests" to date well. He'll steamroller Francis don't you think? And, I also think he could stop Sprott and outlast Williams.

His staminas a major talking point, but people are condemning him as having none until we've seen the evidence IMO.

I wonder what excuse we'll be hearing from Williams in January 23rd then as to why he can't fight........

good double header.

I expect DW to win again though and Skelton to make a good case of him being given the British title shot next

Im not impressed with Skelton and see him getting beaten in the near future, although he will have too much for Julius..

Skelton has good power but is very raw and limited overall...

Credit where its due here - Danny seemed to be in limbo with the BBC, but back with Sport Network and headline a nice double bill.

Hopefully we get a winners and losers double bill later in the year.
