I thought exactly the same thing - but the rumours of the Kessler hand injuries have been circulating for a long time - it is that and that alone which has caused me to have some doubts.

However - When I put this to someone I respect highly as a journalist - he said "Kessler is not just turning up for the money - he could get the money he is getting for this fight in some soft defences in Denmark - he is taking on Calzaghe because he is convinced he can beat him - why take him on other wise??

Out of the massive fights involving Calzaghe and Hatton - I want both of them to win for the sake of British boxing - but in my opinion Calzaghe is a real favourite to win - whilst Hatton although it would be an amazing win - I just cannot see it for the life of me -

I think Calzaghe stops Kessler and Mayweather stops Hatton.
So Kessler could box in Denmark against some obscure name , (I very much doubt on American TV, or in front of 40 or 50 thousand fans and do what you say??.....make the same kind of money?? ...I can't really see it myself.

Throughout Joe's career there have been champions at his weight from both America and Germany to name two countries. Boxers who are renowned for not wanting to stray from their own shores. Why should Joe be any different.
Why go and be a sucker and get robbed in some country where dodgy decision or CHEATING in other words seems an inherent characteristic of the sport.
eff 'em I say, Joe could and would spank 'em all, if they won't risk coming to his house he shouldn't go running to them while he is making good money.
that's paranoia, the cheating thing. Calzaghe got a controversial nod over Reid.

anyway, Kessler's straying from his home country like he did vs Mundine. Will be interesting if there's a guy who can keep beating guys in their backyards.

Payday aside, what Kessler really wants is Joe's scalp - he beats the man, and world's his oyster. He can name his price. That's why he's taking this fight.

I reckon we will hear that he has damaged his hand, but not until after the fight. He probably reckons a painkiller shot is all he needs. Be interesting to see how he's punching in the early rounds.

Joe's gonna be too good for this boy :TU:

Yeah, NEBoxing is right, why should Joe go over to America to fight the big names when he is creaming the Welsh public for all they are worth? Who cares about cementing a legacy with Superfights, hes rich!!!!!

Havent you seen my case for Calzaghe?

Kessler Is not strong on the backfoot and Calzaghe's speed, workrate and agression will make him pay for It. Calzaghe's southpaw skills can put Kessler onto the backfoot with his faster handspeed. Joe could use his jab to eventually pressure Kessler Into being overwhelmed on the ropes like many Calzaghe victims.

Right hands do touch Joe but It depends how you throw them and Kessler's are too straight and In combinations. Overhand rights In single shots do It.

Kessler Is more a superior version to Veit.

Setanta are showing the Lacy one at the moment.

Joe also would have the Inside advantage against Kessler as well as Kessler's holds mostly on the Inside or tucks up and Joe's volume punching would smash that guard open.

This match Is not moral, Kessler will be destroyed.

Yes, he can swap hands for that but is unable to tell us that Calzaghe would beat Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, Duran and Benitez on the same night...
