Terrific fight.

Calzaghe is such a quick slick slippery fighter. I had it 8-4 Calzaghe.

Gave the last round even, 117-113 in total for me.

Calzaghe should nickname himself 'The Chameleon' due to his ability to adapt to different styles.

Shame, always got the feeling Kessler had the fight there for him but was a little bit too one paced in the end. Kessler lost it when he forced the fight, he was at his best when he feinted and let Calzaghe lead off to counter.

I have it 116-112 Calzaghe. Too fast, too fluid and too southpaw. He won me over again, like with the Lacy fight.

Take my hat off to him. He's beaten both his main rivals, when the era of super middles came to life.

How can Joe be so good some nights and so bad others? How can he take those shortcuts in opposition and then come out superb in top company?

Kessler is still an excellent boxer and I thought he had Joe with those right uppercuts early. Style was all wrong for the Dane

Scores were about right. Joe adapted.

If you can find one person who saw the same fight as you I'll be impressed. Even Kessler knew he didn't win it - simply congratulated Calzaghe at the end and didn't try and raise his own hands. He got outboxed in too many rounds as he was spending too much time trying to land the big right.
However, I've got nothing but huge respect for Kessler - he walked the walk and went for broke in the 12th. He'll come back from this a better fighter.

Yes he looked a little bit European when all was said and done. Don't think it was the performance of the lifetime, Calzaghe just did a great job of defusing Kessler's strengths. Full credit to him, the only reason i have ever criticised Calzaghe is because he was beating bums when we knew he had these type of wins in him. Well done he fully deserved his victory.

Calzaghe 7 - 4, one even - 117 - 113

Kessler a formidable opponent, young, strong, good boxer.

Joe's superior skill speed and huile won him the fight.

Joe should call it a day now. He's done it all.

You're right. That was the key to the whole fight. Calzaghe also proved that chin beyond doubt after question marks were raised in the wake of the Salem and Mitchell knockdowns. He soaked up some huge shots and kept on coming...

Here we go motormouth Enzo is given the mic.

I have never heard Joe give so much credit to an opponent, Kessler must have been good he even admitted he was hurt at the end.

No arguments now, Joe is a legend.

An all time great and the best fighter we've seen out of the UK in years. Maybe ever.

And please don't mention the great pretender Sven Ottke anymore. It's getting embarassing.

But he wasn't... so he didn't.

Calzaghe is so reliable. At times it looked like he was going to neglect the jab when things got tough, but he always went back to it.
