Tad harsh fella. Kessler was a great, world-class fighter, and Calzaghe went through some rough patches, dug deep and came out clearly on top. There was some clinching and the odd punch on the back of the head... but it's all part of the game and simply Calzaghe using his experience to 'old man' Kessler out of the fight.
Just listening to Kessler and he's a class act - completely honest... admitted he got tired from missing with too many shots and said Calzaghe hurt him with a body shot in the eighth. Wish him all the best in the future :TU:

Fantastic post-fight interview from Kessler, humility the lot.

Deserves massive respect, no excuses nothing.

I hope he goes on to kick on now, really I do.

Kessler is the ultimate gentleman, classy loser. Bit of American training and who knows how good he can become.

Yes Kessler is a great guy, showed real class and huge heart tonight. He's the next boss man of the supermiddles, for as long as he wants.

They fed him the injured hand excuse on a plate and he rejected it.

"No my hand was fine".

Top man. Refreshing.

Kessler did a bad tipster like me a favour, he showed enough and put up a good enough fight to make me feel better about picking the wrong winner :D And not look so stupid for backing him.

Credit where it is due, that was a fantastic performance, sheer, guts and determination won that fight ... and before I forget most importantly of all Calzaghe had a Plan B ... bloody excellent performance.

I had 116-112 Joe.

Exciting fight between two really good fighters.Kessler looked really strong in parts and had Joe hurt, punished the silly errors he was making.Joe seemed to wise up and knew that all he had to do was box sensibly as he had the better skills. His jab worked really well for him tonight.

Credit to Kessler for being magnanimous in defeat, he's still got a really good career ahead of him.

I thought the same, they offered him a chance to come clean (i honestly believe the hand was hurt pre-fight) and he said no excuses it was fine.

Terrific fight.

Calzaghe is so slippery and quick for a SMW with the southpaw style. Kessler was loading up and took more out of himself when missing than he took out of Calzaghe when he connected. The way that Calzaghe keeps up the workrate throughout with poking prodding and scoring punches makes him the nighmare for opponents that he is.

8-4 Calzaghe: that makes him a very special boxer. Absolutely delighted for him.

Agreed, I thought I could see him hesitate for a second, like he wanted to come clean, then went the decent route and made no excuses at all. Real class all the way.

Though his hands looked ok in there..if anything I had the impression Joe was holding back around mid-way.

Joe is our greatest, certainly of modern times. He has done it all and should retire.

Kessler is a class act, both in and out of the ring.

I would like to see HBO's version.

"Harold how'd you have it scored"

"Ok Jim, 120-108 Joe "The Prince Of Wales" Calzaghe. You know what Jim? Calzaghe is coming forward and throwing punches, that for me wins....."

"Wait Harold we have Compubox numbers, 41 connects power percentage Joe to Kessler's jabs landed through round 3, 45 out of 188 power shots with 643 connect power rate....blah blah"

I rate Froch really highly - there again I did Kessler I really thought he was the man to beat Calzaghe - the way Calzaghe performed tonight gives cause for me to eat a lot of humble pie!!!

I was thoroughly enthralled throughout that fight - absolutely fantastic.

Froch as much as I rate him is going to have to step up a lot of levels!!!

Good win for Calzaghe, hope Kessler will continue boxing, and thus save danish boxing. I also some of the nuthuggers from both sides will keep it down here and not gloat/come with bad excuses.

Oh yeah, I feel like hell right now.

I had it 117-112.

Great performance from Joe Calzaghe.

Dempsey: "Where do you want to see Joe next?"

Clinton: "In with me for my light heavyweight title!"

Now, that's out of the way, time to look towards Hatton.

Yes great fight, though I think Kessler would be too organised for Froch and tee off on that high held chin all night.

This is how Danes tend to speak English atleast from my experience..there is a little hesitation before they translate in their minds what they want to say..atleast that is my take on it.. He was clean and honourable in defeat..
