Povetkin To Fight Eddie Chambers

The fight tonight means this one slipped through the net last night. Chambers took a split decision over Calvin Brock which means he meets Povetkin in the final eliminator for the Klitschko bout.

Any thoughts on this fight? I have never seen Chambers fight and would put Povetkin as a favourite.

Povetkin wins. Chambers could easily make Cruiserweight and probably Light Heavyweight if he took the weight off. He can't crack an egg.

The fact that guys like Brock, Arreola, Chambers, Kev Johnson, Malik Scott (god help us) are America's top prospects show the dire straits they are in. Has anyone seen Chambers fighting? I am curious to see a bit of footage as he is highly rated from what i have read about him, but only recently had i heard of him so he must have been picking off the usual suspects.

I can't see past Povetkin winning anyway, regardless of Chambers abilities.

I'm really sold on Povetkin. Love his body punching, accuracy, poise, etc. What a fighter.

So potentially Povetkin could be a genuine world champ in only his 16th fight!

Obviously I'm looking past Chambers, but how do you think he'll fare against Wlad? I think he'll be too busy for him, his work rate and his range of punches will cut Wlad down.

Povetkin is at least one of the most dominating amateur super-heavies ever since the 70's. The only ones who could compete with Povetkins record are Olympic greats Savon, Ali and Stevenson. Lewis has a great amateur super-heavy record but he wasn't as dominating as Povetkin.

Povetkin started at international level at 2001. He lost at 1/4 at WCH 2001, won ECH 2002, Won WCH 2003, Won ECH 2004, Won OG 2004. During that time (After Belfast WCH 2001) he lost only once!!! and according to Russian press (from that time) he was ill, when lost from Lezin. He won 16 out of 17 international competitions during his amateur days. In the real world Povetkin won Olympics, World, Europe, Russia, Europe pro-kickboxing, World kickboxing and just about anything else. He brutally avenged few (5) fights he lost on points earlier in his carreer.

He's certainly got pedigree, and is the best prospect out there IMO, although i think Johnson may develop into a top one as well.

But do you think Povetkin is exciting to watch?

I do like watching him fight, from the scientific angle. It's lovely to see him solve out a style, and when he does it with workrate and body banging as well, it's very enjoyable.

First 2 fights of his I wasn't sold on him, but I started watching lots of them after it was announced they were trying to make a fight between him and Monte Barrett, and I found A LOT to like.
