The thread seems to be degenerating a little - The next question could be does Reid have a big dick - Anyway back to boxing - Bearing in mind Froch is comming back from a knee op, a fighter who is past his best with a decent name such as Reid is not a bad choice of opponent - Obviously Froch does have to step up next and fight a current top 10 fighter but for now I dont have a problem with him taking on RR - Froch has said he is not taking the fight lightly and he is right to do so because it isnt a foregone conclusion as many seem to think it is - Reid is slow, and a spoiler but his right is awesome and Froch is wide open to it - The upset could happen if Froch gets over confident and walks straight onto it - You would expect Froch to win, and most of us think he will do but its make or break for Reid and hes not going there to help Froch pad his record - I honestly do think Reid will test Froch in what will hopfully be FIREWORKS.

I'm afraid i don't have any porn puns or one liners to offer at this stage but i do see the fight as a forgone conclusion. Reid was a slow counter puncher in his heyday, now he is just slow without the counter punching. He is a spoiler himself and once Froch lands the heavy artillery i see Reid being stopped for the second time in his career.

I don't know if Froch will smoke Reid's boots, but I bet that Reid will go on to smoke some more booty.

Must be said, Robin was in tip top shape at the weigh in today.

Like he said himself 'I got no pressure at all.. i had a great 8 weeks camps, ive already achieved my ambitions and have plenty in the bank and a couple businesses... Froch better not look past me as i'm fit, strong can bang and have a good chin'

He said he was in better shape & stamina than Ottke & Reid and would be throwing the kitchen sink at Froch.

Should be good for an otherwise ordinary friday night of telly.

I don't think Reid's right hand is as devastating as some of you are making out. It's a decent shot, not so much now though because his timing has seemed to be way off. Don't forget how average he looked against Brinkley. Even in his prime Reid's right hand wasn't any kind of KO shot but more of a clubbing shot.

Best performance was undoubtedly against an aging and always limited Henry Wharton - he did look class that night, but he should have lost vs Cherifi and then did vs Malinga (who was pretty finished at that stage). The manner of 3 of his defeats (Branco, Malinga and Lacy) were pretty damanging also.

The Calzaghe performance, which is pushing 10 years ago, is one of the only things that is keeping him amazingly in the British top #3. Calzaghe's problems prior to that fight have been well documented.
he beat Nardiello away from home, won a cracker vs Wharton, beat a smaller guy in a wild, exciting fight (whose name I don't remember) and dropped Magee a # of times & was robbed vs Ottke. On the other hand, some poor showings, vs Lacy, Malinga, Cherifi, and has done little of recent. No one's saying he was great, but he was a worthy fighter in his day.
Beat Vincenzo Nardiello in a fight in which he was legitimately losing (or level) before the stoppage. Says alot I'm afraid. Nardiello was a bottler and pretty damn poor. One of the worst world champions I have ever seen.

I don't think the Wharton fight was a cracker, but it was a good performance - but Wharton wasn't world class. Petrious was tough, but never world class also. A world class fighter shouldn't have any problems with these two.

Needed to score a few KD's vs Magee to win the fight - again, speaks alot IMO.
After he KO'd that smaller man in a wild, very good fight, you could see Frank looking really pissed off post fight. I recall him being more crtiical about 1 of his fighters in a post fight interview than I've ever seen, and it was no surprise that soon after he'd hail Joe as his "fighter for the millennium"

All I'm saying is Reid picked up a belt, had awful showings, had a handful of very decent wins and had showings where he pushed 2 of the most dominant super middle champs to their limits.

On the photos, Reid somehow seems to have better presence than Froch. Froch normally looks a lot meaner than this.

That pic though also shows why some are given Carl a shout vs Joe - Look at the height and reach advantage. I cannot remember Reid every being a small (Height wise) Super Middle.

Froch looks like he makes the weight easy at this stage (doesn't look guant and was expecting to see him more ripped) - so I think the talk of him fighting Joe at Light Heavy would be bad for him.

Agree with Autobarn's view on Froch's presence - he does look tense. Not as tense as Reid in some of his movies I guess.

Reid plans to retire after the bout according to comments attributed to Brian Hughes.

Does that suggest a motivated fighter to anyone here, or a payday.

Rob's timing isn't there. I hope he proves me wrong and makes a fight of it. Froch has a habit of giving everyone a chance. So it could be fun.

But I think Reid will be out of the fight by the 7th or 8th, and it may get stopped before the end.

Either way Froch has to step up after this.

Also, reid wasnt "robbed" against ottke, there was a point or two in it. Wasnt as if Reid mullered him but ottke got the nod.

Yes, I've seen stu come on here before and explain that if the judges scored it as the ref wanted them to, there wouldn't have been much in it.

But if the ref had have been fair, the very least Reid would have got is a points win and I actually think he'd have sparked him.

And well said Autobarn with your 'glass half full' approach. I get sick of some of you miserable twats on here. Reid was a bloody good pro and a genuine world champ to boot and all some of you can do is say he was no great shakes.

F*ck off and watch Strictly Come Dancing or whatever is on the other side.

And unlike most of you, I was ringside to see Reid-Pretorius and let me tell you, light-middle or not he was one hard bastard. One of the most gutsy (and surprising) efforts I've seen. Reid underestimated him - as did we all.
