Danny Williams admits there's "bad blood"

Danny Williams claims Michael Sprott was trying to get him disqualified in their controversial British and Commonwealth title fight in September. Sprott, for his part, says Danny was "desperate" and deliberately hit low in an attempt to turn the fight in his favour.
The upshot is "bad blood" Danny admits. He says for the first time in his career, he's going into a fight looking to "hurt an opponent".
They meet again on January 24 at the Wembley Conference Centre. Should be interesting.

i've never seen the low blow incident in the last fight cos i missed it and cos the bbc never do repeats i never got another chance to c it.

i'll make sure i watch the 3rd fight though

i personally think sprott will win that, williams is for the taking and sprott is the man to end his reign

as best I remember this is what happened: in the penultimate round Williams hit Sprott low, and it was a bad one, I think he followed up with a punch to the head that dropped Sprott and the ref wrongly counted. Sprott beat the count and the bell went.
Then in the next round Williams hit him low again, again a bad one, right in the bollocks, Sprott looked at the ref and Williams hit him with a left hook and again the ref wrongly counted, this time to ten.
Sprott was handling Williams pretty easily up to then.

'Protect yourself at all times' - you learn this in your first round of sparring.
No excuse for Sprott 'pulling a Sharkey' and dropping his hands to complain after a low blow.
He should of taken the shot and if the ref did nothing, swing back good and hard directly at Dw's nuts.

I had the impression Sprott was looking for an out ( or a dsq win )
he'd hit Williams with his best shots to no effect and realised he was in for a long painful night.
Williams KO 3 this time round.

Sprott's face as he sat in his corner after the first low blow incident was one of a disgruntled child. Instead of reacting like a warrior in the next round, he came out and started squealing again. Harsh words, perhaps, but he should have banged Danny back low and then got on with winning the fight (which he was). I was bitterly disappointed in the Reading man.

Yes he didn't show a win at all costs attitude in there, which was what most of us were probably expecting with so much local pride on the line.
Like you say, he should've returned the compliment..but harder!!

Maybe I'm underestimating him and he'll come back a bit tougher mentaly - is Skelton v Francis on same bill?

A bit of ignorance there. The first time Sprott got hit low, it was a pretty big shot to the knackers, and then as his hands came down, Danny gets a free shot, and Sprott is hurt badly, and goes back to his corner on shaky legs.

At that point, the ref should have given him 5 minutes extra time to recover, but instead began a count, and then just gave him the sstandard minute.

This gave Danny a huge advantage going into the next round, and really the way he then thumped Sprott in the bollocks again, I think it would have been fair to disqualify him.

It would only have been fair to disqualify Williams had he been properly warned for the first shot. Williams fouled no question but he was right to carry on punching if the ref isn't calling a time out.

Anyway Sprott gets his chance to put things straight in a 3rd match, although it seems pretty clear he'll do bloody well to keep up that sharp boxing against a proven 12-round fighter who dwarfs him for strength and power.
