MAYWEATHER AND HATTON PICK WINNER OF SATURDAY NIGHT'S MEGA-FIGHT BETWEEN MIGUEL COTTO AND SHANE MOSLEY SATURDAY AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

NEW YORK, NY (November 6, 2007 ) . . . With "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather and Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton heavily entrenched in preparations for their own welterweight championship showdown December 8, both undefeated fighters took the time to weigh in on the welterweight mega-contest between their division rivals Miguel Cotto and Sugar Shane Mosley this Saturday, November 10th at the "Mecca of Boxing," Madison Square Garden. The 12-round world welterweight title fight will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View, beginning at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.
Mayweather, 38-0 (24 KOs), is the reigning world and Ring Magazine welterweight champion. Considered the pound-for-pound best in the sport today, he expects a Mosley victory.
"I see it as an easy fight for Shane and I predict an early KO," Mayweather predicted.
Hatton, 43-0 (31 KOs), a multi-division champion and universally recognized world junior welterweight champion, agreed with his upcoming opponent.
" I think Shane Mosley will win because he will cause Cotto problems with his speed and movement. Last time out, Cotto looked strong but didn't carry the same finesse at welterweight as in previous fights. He looked a little crude against Judah. Cotto will need more finesse against Mosley."

So Hatton is a bit more level headed and realistic about the outcome while Floyd sees an easy fight for Mosley and an early KO. My head says Mosley but my heart says Cotto, i would like to see Cotto win for some reason, not sure why. I suppose i like the way he has been handled thus far and feel he is a champion who will face the best (not that Mosley won't but he's a bit long in the tooth now).
I'll stick my neck out and go for Cotto on points, maybe split decision.

Cotto has had problems with faster slicker boxers - Malignaggi (I had winning 5 rounds) and Judah who hurt him and Cotto has sort of admitted to using low blows to keeping himself in that fight. Cotto also has had issues with his chin against Judah, Torres, Corley.
Cotto is easy to hit and Mosley is much faster and has 8 inches more reach
What does Cotto do better than Mosley?
Workrate - Cotto doesn't set a ferous pace and is methodical. Mosleys workrate seems on par with Cotto for me
Power - Cotto doesn't have brutal 1 punch KO power
Bodyshots - both are excellent body punchers. Cotto goes to the body more but this could leave his chin exposed against Mosley.
Jab - a good jab can neutralise Mosleys speed and find Cotto a way in. But Mosley has got an excellent right hand counter so this could be counter productive.
Ring Smarts - definately goto go with Mosley here
Size - both are big strong Welterweights, Mosley has height/reach.
