David Haye time

The coverage starts at 7:45pm. Does anybody know what time Haye actually walks out? Are we going to see the main event first, with the undercard highlights afterwards, like on Sky. Or do we have to sit through a lot of BS, before David Haye walks out?

What is the story behind Haye fighting at Heavy in his last fight and now dropping back down to cruiser after dropping 20 pounds from his last fight. Is he considering a HW career and changed his mind or.... He recorded a KO 1 and now is back at cruiser. What's up with that?

I think David is fighting at 8.45 so presumably undercard after.

he's been the WBC cruiser mandatory for some time. The title shot didn't come very quickly, he struggles making cruiserweight, and a fight with Enzo Maccarinelli fell through - so he went up and made a statement in the division he wants to fight in. He KO'd the WBC #11, so if he wins the cruiser belts tonight it will set him up nicely at heavyweight.

I heard that too that he was not expecting for this chance against Mormeck to come about. I wonder how this will affect him now dropping back down.

the main event starts at 9.50 pm in local (french) time..so its 8.50 pm here in the UK.

Not sure that's right. They had been working towards this for a long time and thought it was worth going through the pain for one last fight at 200lbs, seeing it might make him the number one - and make his stock rise at heavy too.

I think Mormeck wanted to fight someone else, like Cunningham or Tiozzo. Haye wasn't really in King's plans, so it looks like King made it as hard as poss for Haye to get his mandatory shot. They really pissed about with delays, rescheduling etc and it seems that Don Jose bent over backward to accomodate King. I really want Haye to win this one.

Sorry Maussa, but hate this misleading statement that keeps getting thrown about as if it gives Haye heavyweight credibility. Peter McNeeley was once WBC #9, and we could whip up all manner of ranking atrocities (Kahn world ranked??)

Haye whacked out an inept lump who had beaten 30 nobodys and lost in 9 to Fraudley Harrison. Those are his credentials, so all we know about Haye is that he is much better at brushing aside bums than Audley ever was.

For me, Haye gets trounced tonight. Not tough enough in chin or ticker for the heavy swinging Frog. Sorry if that sounds harsh guys. Haye already had his excuse 'oh, the weight loss drained me, but wait til you see me at heavyweight!'

Mormecks last fight was an all out war with a puncher, and he prevailled.

Last time Haye was in an all out war with a puncher, he was gassed after rd 1 and stitched into the canvas by rd 5. Haye was looking knackered v Frogomeni for fricks sake.

Mormeck will out-gut the Wannabe Playboy.

According to Boxing News, British light-middle Steve Conway faces Christophe Canclaux of France in an 8-rounder and Souleymane MBaye (who lost his WBA 140 title to Gavin Rees) is on the comeback trail against Ahmet Diaz of Panama.

Will we see two knackered fighters in the 2nd half of the fight - If both men give their all without getting the vital KO, I think its possible - I know Haye has learned a lot since Thompson but Mormeck I think will make him fight his fight, denying David the chance to pace himself - I dont think Haye is chinny, against Thompson he had nothing left, so he got dropped quite easily - Both men are hard hitters and I believe both can take a good punch but late on in the fight, if it lasts, for me its who gets lucky - I expect a tear up maybe from the start, but definately from round two on with a KO around 4 or 5 - I hope David wins but this is his toughest opponent to date and a Haye win is not a certainty - Lets hope its a classic with loads of leather exchanged.

Thanks Chesh, that sounds pretty good - Seen Canclaux before, he should give Conway a good bout but I expect Conway to get the win and anyone called Diaz should be a handful for MBaye, although I cant say I have seen him before.

Steve Conway? Hes an awful boxer, no skills and really flabby and fleshy. A lot of guys in gyms are good enough to outwork or outpunch him over 6 and 8 rds.

Claude Abrams predicts a Canclaux win in about 6.

I saw him box in the flesh. He had rolls of flab around his waist and saggy breasts. He muddled and cuffed his way to an 8 rd decision loss to a similarly useless polish novice. He looked to have 2 left feet, and threw punches with little quality or power.

oh well fair play at least you're qualifying your comment with an eye witness account.

i've only seen Conway the once but it was a 10 or 12 ronder at Hartlepool a couple years ago for the IBO version of world title if I remember correctly....I knew nothing about him but gathered he was not a world beater and also that most of his fights were behind, rather than in front of him judging by the 30 -odd fights on his record......but he put on a good show of boxing, fitness and heart that night against an Eastern European lad who was tough.
