The former British and European light-welterweight champion will soon become familiar with the A11 trunk road as he travels to support his 25-year-old son, Leon, who this week made a £325,000 move to City from Peterborough United.
McKenzie Jnr is a regular at the Boxing Writer's Club annual dinner, where he sits at the same table as his dad and his uncle Duke McKenzie.
Leon McKenzie on the rise
Leon McKenzie has always been a promising striker but i didn't realise he had connections with Duke. I remember when he burst onto the scene at Crystal Palace at about the same time as Clinton Morrison and Marcus Bent, he seemed to have potential but never really fulfilled it and subsequently moved to Peterborough. Seems old Barry Fry has got the best out of him and he's scoring again, good luck at Norwich Leon! It's about time Wolves started looking for guys like that instead of dire signings like Steffen Iversen and Silas 
Ahh - I remember about 10 years ago GMTV did a thing in which kids were aloud to writing in about their ambitions and they would do something to try and help them on their way.
Now, there was this kid Leon (something, can't remember) who was about 14 who wrote in to say he haboured ambitions to be a proffesional boxers. So GMTV got Barry McGuigan over to his gym to give him personal advice.
It was all a bit cheesy (done to "gonna fly now") but Barry was watching this boy train, I've often thought were is the guy now, because it was the most impressive little trainer I have seen. He could do things on the skipping rope that I can only dream of still and Barry said remember the name this boy is going places (it was scripted, but you could tell he was genually flabbergasted by his talent).
I remember his first name was Leon and he would be about 24/25 now. I wonder if it was him.
