bit of a trend this, the low slung left hand, seemingly inviting the opponent to try and land the big right on the old vera, but therefore leaving them open for the counter.

froch uses it as part of his style, and david haye to adapts this stance.

would these 2 fellas be the fighters they were if they were more orthodox and tight guarded, surely we should applaud the non 'eastern european stereotypical' boxing stance.

both boys have had great amateur careers and now are making big waves in the pro game. lets applaud their achievements and accept that the stance is never gonna change.

Its not a style I favour myself and Froch took two if not three decent punches the other night because of it and a better opponent would have followed through and put him in serious trouble - The first rules of boxing as I am sure you know, are keep your hands up and defend yourself at all times - Breaking that rule at the top level isnt wise IMO - Anyway David had a great win and full credit to him - Dont think I have seen him leave his arm that low before.

Watching the contender last night i thought about this thread, Bika always has his hands low, and Codrington keeps his around his ears.
But the looping shots of Bika kept getting inside the high defense, and Codrington couldn't take advantage of the low hands, which you would think he could as he's quite a accurate puncher.
