For a start Bunce floats a catchweight contest beyond Cruiserweight, surely heavyweight bout would suffice for this?

Then Haye boxes conservatively, as he did in his 12 round fight, throws the right amount of shots, breaks Mormeck down to the body, survives a scare and reaps the rewards from his body attack by KOing the #1 Cruiser, yet the post-fight analysis is pure nonsense.

I'm glad Setanta got the fight but they seemed to piss on Haye's win a little with Bunce playing Bazza for the night.

Enzo Mac went down a lot in my opinion. No credit for Haye taking the #1 abroad and playing it down post-fight by including himself and Cunningham as #1 also. There can only be one #1 and it is now David Haye, he did not bring a former top Cruiser to his home town and outbox him he went away and ripped the titles from the #1, a flawed Champion, said he was the one who'd gas, but the main man nonetheless.

To add insult to injury Haye offers Mac out and Enzo sees his arse and pretty much says he is going to pick up the sloppy seconds or hope Haye cuts off a leg to make Cruiser. Total rubbish in my opinion.

Haye went away and took control of the division, he is not importing KO's he is exporting them and I'm sure the US would like a nice shiny new heavy in the mix so Hate should leave behind the mealey-mouthed nonsense from the UK and go to try his hand at heavyweight as Undisputed, outside the Setanta studio, Cruiserweight Champion.

Well done to Haye, I don't think he was making excuses, he does look a little leg-weak at Cruiserweight so lets see him liberate himself at heavyweight.

What happened to Enzo going to heavyweight?

I'll admit I had a triple brandy when Haye went down but it was a textbook demolition of a smaller man, body blows, tip his head and rip the uppercut, thought Haye had forgot that shot but he brought it in at the right time.

Made up for Haye, a proper fighter.
Yeah, I hope the fight is made, just so that Haye can knock Enzo out. Enzo seemed very butter. Haye is no1 at 200. Hopefully he can work with a nutritionist to enable him a few more fights at the weight.

Bunce was talking out of his arse, about Haye weighing 16st 5lb in the ring. Haye would have been 215 at the very very most. My gues he was 210 - 212.

They should riase the cruiser limit to 210 anyway. The division would be even better. Povetkin and Chambers could be added.

I hope Haye stays at 200, because this is what I class the real HW division. The division above I class the blubberweight or roidweight. I dont even follow it.

Great nights work from David Haye, World Heavyweight Champion.

Didn't see the coverage, but Bunce has clearly had one too many champagne executive press greetings. The man needs toilet roll every time he opens his mouth.

Ditch the belts Haye and move up , sure he's not watertight but he's proved he's a league above Enzo now.
Agree with you about Bunce. I used to like his brashness and personality, but he definitely has undergone the first arsehole to mouth transplant.

I particularly despised his dribble when he said 'Noone, but noone not even on the internet predicted that haye would win in this way, after round 5' (I'm typing from drunken memory a bit so forgive the mistakes)like it was the world's most unexpected result.

Many on this board predicted that Mormeck's stamina was suspect and that David would bomb him out in the second half.

On another note I don't think the Macca bashing is appropriate. I think Macca is a classy guy and at Cruiser would beat David (though that is one fight that could have 100 different results if they fought 100 times.)

BUt at heavy Haye is just too powerful. Enzo is a slightly fleshy Cruiser, whereas Haye is a bulging, ripped champ.

I think if this fight is to go ahead it would have to fit into Haye's schedule and dairy not Enzo's.

It was like they'd been told between programs to give Haye a bit more credit.
absolutely. it was like 8 hrs later they decided, oh, we'll have to balance this a bit.

Sports Network have hijacked the Setanta Sports studios.

I don't think Enzo cares if he's pissed ppl off. So long as Haye brings the titles to his backyard & his countrymen flock out to support him. Kll yourself to make weight, come to my parlour, and bring your titles. Who wouldn't want to do that for Enzo Mac?

Glad they showed the fight, but the studio work is bang out of order.

The only positive is that if it ever happens, it will be even more of a grudge match.

I hope that this fight puts pressure on Macca to demand a fight with Cunningham.

I don't think the limit on CW should be upped guyd, otherwise the gap between LHW and Cruiser would be way too big. 25 pounds is bad enough as it is!

Mac should not try to make his name off a big fight that he knows won't happen. We all know he can fight and that he's a fit, hard hitting cruiser. He'd really earn my respect back if he would objec tto fights like Sellers/Azzaoui/Gunn/Lamontagne. Why not try a heavyweight novetly of his own, see if he can KO Greenberg or maybe unretire Gammer for a decent payday? How about giving Ding Wilson or Tomasz Adamek a shot for his WBO belt, show that it's a credible title reign? These things should be just for starters!

Anyone else think the Setanta team had been reading Boxrec between the shows? First thing Bunce said was about Boxing Websites and then started really giving Haye the credit he deserves.

I agree with the people who said why can't we embrace them both. In a similar(ish) way we have embraced Witter and Hatton as geniune champions. Yeah sure, be dissapointed that they haven't fought - but when Hatton beat Castillo no-one was saying "well, thats ruined Witter's plans etc" and be "chuffed" that it has.

The cynic in me is thinking that had Enzo not been a SN fighter or even, and I do hope that this is just a bit of paranoia, had Enzo been born the other side of the bridge, the criticisms might not have been so harsh.

Its a shame, but its is perfectly understandable that these two will probably not meet. Of course, I am sure Enzo would rather meet an aging fighter for two belts - than say a Tomaz Adameck for 1 belt and a Matt Godfrey for another. Its perfectly understandable that Haye is moving up, likewise it is perfectly understandable that Enzo Mac wants to stay at Cruiser.

He has stated that he will fight Haye for the titles - but it is David Haye who is now changing the goal posts.

I have not been a fan of Enzo but lets get things into perspective here.
Haye has also said this would be his last fight at crusier for some time so Enzo can talk as much bollox as he likes but at the end of the day he will always hide behind his promoter.

All he done this evening was make himself look silly talking about this matchup constantly knowing full well it wont happen.
good post and i agree, suddenly enzo is wanting the fight, i have never seen enzo before on tv being so keen on the haye fight, he usually passes the comments over to his puppet master mr warren.

haye is now top dog, he had stated all along it was his last fight at cruiser, so why is enzo suddenly wanting the scrap....

fight haye at heavyweight enzo, and see what you are made of, you are 6ft4 so your frame could carry it.

Bunce is just Bunce. Nobody takes him seriously do they?

With some of the comments he comes out with, I'd advise anyone who follows boxing, not to take Bunce seriously all the time! He said Haye probably weighed 16st 4lbs in the ring. That would mean Haye put on 28lbs between the weigh-in & fight time!

For the record, does anyone know David's actual fight-time weight? As for the bout with Maccarinelli, I think it's obvious now that if the fight does happen, it has to be @ HW, not Cruiser.

Haye will not be fighting as a Cruiser again. I think the outlook look's good for David up at HW. However, he's got to keep his hands up more. Can you imagine if it was Klitzkcho instead of Mormeck in the fourth! Think Haye's punch resistance will be better up @ heavy.

Great night for British boxing & David himself. He made the sacrifices & they paid off for him. Showed real heart in there. David is a nice guy & a character, something boxing needs. Haye is the one to put the HW division bakc on the map!

They should raise the limits all the way from Strawweight and bring in a new minimum weight. The average man weighs a lot more than 11stone 6, when middleweight was introduced over 100 years ago.

Middleweight limit should now be 175

Light Heavy should be 190

Cruiser 205 or 210, and so on.

Yeah he said anyone, press, internet, who said they thought Haye would win by stoppage after round 5 is a liar - or words to that effect

Boxing Monthly (who Buncey of course writes for) predicted a Haye win in 9

Im glad I wasnt the only one who thought this bunxch of sycophants were awful. Even woodhall unusually changed his tune form one moment to the next.

Enzo came accorss extrememly childish and pathetic. Id love Haye to shut him up but it wont happen at cruiser.

bunce is a joke he said one thing pandering to enzo in the studio then when he wasnt there changed his tune.

Maybe he was trying to be devils advocate but in truth came accross as an arse licking ponce.

Anyway CONGRATS DAVID. the besty cruiserwieght in the world and soon to be the best Heavyweight.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it Enzo and Frankie.

the whole show wound me up to be honest.

The commentating by the sceptics on Cotto v Moselty was so far up cottos arse it was pathetic, the way they were talking you would have thought that cotto shut mosely out. I turned the sound off in the end.

It was just a culmunation of w*nkers spraffing shite that became so irritating it almost spoiled the fight.

almost. :TU:

There's no doubt Haye did it the hard way. I spoke with him at the McClellan benefit night in February and he told me that all he wanted was the winner of Bell-Mormeck later in the year and that he'd prefer to be fighting Bell. I had doubts as to whether he'd get the fight but to go and take the title from his least favoured opponent and in his own backyard was fantastic.

I thought Bell would be easier. Easier to tag, doesn't cut the ring down well, easy to hit, but harder to stop. While Haye eventually broke JMM down, I think he would've had to keep Bell on the end of a hard jab-right all night for a points win or surprise KO.

I thought it was poor that Sheridan admitted to never having seen Haye box. It's his job and he couldn't even manage to get hold of a few DVDs of his fights?

Yeah didn't like that either considering most people watching would have seen him at least once before and probably a lot more than that. The likes of Jim Watt would have added much more to the drama.

I personally wouldn't like ot see the weight limit for each division raised. The Cruiser limit had already been reaised once. If it happens again,in a few years figthers who can't make that limit, will be asking for it to be raised again. We could have a sport that raises the weight limit's every so often if we're not careful.

If, say, the MW limit ws raised to 175lbs, I for one would always class fighters who weigh 160bs as MW's, not the 175lbs boxers. The weigth divisions have already been adjusted far too much i.e. more weight category's intoduced.

Who remembers when there were just eight weiht divisions? When fighters were boxing at a more natural weight for themselves, rather than boiling down, only to put a ton of weight back on.
